    Hi,

Everything is in the title. I'm not only talking about fire team composition, I'm curious on what is youe best practices to play 5 men which cost the half of your army, with hackable trait (despite of tinbot, fairy dust with lieutenant and killer hacker option) ?

Your core is it defensive or agressive/button pusher? Do you alpha strike with your core before to get back in your DZ with tactical/NCO orders?

Composition dictates what you can do with them.

I find it is advisable to alpha strike only targets of opportunity (punish poorly deployed models) and let solo models do the brunt of the work. Sus out the hidden threats and try to reduce the number of rocket and missile launchers.

This is my usual Zuyong Core:

    Invincible Army
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]5
    TAI SHENG Mk12, Chain-colt, Stun Grenades / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0 | 45)
ZÚYŎNG (Fireteam: Duo, Tactical Awareness) HMG / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (1.5 | 38)
    ZÚYŎNG (Fireteam: Haris, Tactical Awareness) Combi Rifle + 1 TinBot B (Deflector L2) / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (0.5 | 34)
HǍIDÀO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 26)
SHÀNG JÍ Heavy Rocket Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Shock CCW. (2 | 39)

The Shang Ji HRL can vary a bit.

The idea is that the team is a brutal doorkicker and distraction carnifex, while the solo pieces do a lot of the work.

BTS3 plus Deflector L2 means that anyone attempting to hack your link team is at WIP-6. Fairy Dust means that they're effectively BTS6, knocking down even Oblivion to a 50% chance of ISO after hitting (so a PanO AHD is looking at maybe a 15-17% chance of success, even a WIP15 hacker is looking at a 22.5% chance of success). And then they're facing a KHD ARO for good measure. It's pretty good protection.

I haven’t played as many games as I’d like, but Ive has good experience in having a haidao MSR linked at the start of the game, with a haidao KHD haidao hanging out nearby to replace him before moving the team out. And don’t be afraid to break up the link once you are mid table to grab objectives or whatever.

Before the SEF release I also wanted to experiment a three man core a long side a haris for more flexibility

I go alpha with HMG. If I can not, I set long range ARO with HMG/ML/MSR (depends on what weapons I have) but I try not to go till unconcious.
Tinbot TA and HMG TA are must haves. MSV MSR/ML is optional. Most of the time only one button puhser (Haidao).

My ideal is to keep it pure and run something like this, but it would be a while before my IA is table ready, and my gut tells me it will suck worse than if I caved and started replacing things with Haidao.

Someone on Facebook who was remonstrating me harshly for calling breaker Tai Sheng trash posted something this link that can take on nearly anything do nearly everything. I don't know if would ever use it but it looks kind of cool?

It's probably intended to be "suss", "to suss out" means to realize or understand something.

    Thanks for sharing your ideas.

I think to similar core with Tai seng, hmg+tinbot tactical, 1 haidao specialist/smr, 1 more cheap/spec/ML zuyong. What I see it's it depend on scenario/table but you play the core as defensive team turn 1 before turn 2/3 strike with solo alpha strike in turn 1/2 (mowang/zensha/hulang.../liu xing/hac Tao).

Wha do you think to have mowang + KHD Haidao and a core 4 zugong including Tai sheng + MSR haidao with ability to switch the haidao (MSR if play in second for ARO turn 1)

    This.
I'm not native English, but I speak it every day, even so English loves being irregular and it can be hard to know exact spelling.

Don't thank me, thank GuyIncognito for providing the accurate meaning, I've known it to mean "find out", so I have used it slightly wrong ;)

It's a solid fireteam and a good gameplan, but keep in mind that your opponent army is also an important factor: some are really easy to alpha strike, (ex:ramah taskforce) while others are pretty much impossible to go after efficiently (ex: shasvastii). In fact, shasvastii is one of the few army which make me consider tailoring my 2nd list to counter them first and foremost, and not just have a list for a set of mission and the other for the remaining ones.

Meh, I don't think it's a good idea to make IA lists without at least 1 zhencha, this little guy solve way too many problems.
Actually one of my main beef against the Taï Sheng team is that, while you can still afford a few "solo operatives" as I like to call them, it's pretty hard to include the more expensive ones (mowang, hac tao) and more often than not you have to settle for an attack REM + a zhencha, unless you're willing to compromise the zuyong fireteam's durability by replacing 1 zuyong by the pangulling FTO, or give-up on engie/medic support. Not that I don't like having a zhencha and a rui-shi besides my zuyong team mind you, but I don't really like to feel "railroaded" when I build lists.

Agreed, I really want to take 2x Zhencha but am usually limited to taking 1.

My stereotypical IA list looks about like this:
    Invincible Army
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]10
DĀOYĪNG Lieutenant L2 Hacker (Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 29)

    TAI SHENG Mk12, Chain-colt, Stun Grenades / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0 | 45)
    ZÚYŎNG (Fireteam: Haris, Tactical Awareness) Combi Rifle + 1 TinBot B (Deflector L2) / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (0.5 | 34)
ZÚYŎNG (Fireteam: Duo, Tactical Awareness) HMG / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (1.5 | 38)
HǍIDÀO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 26)
SHÀNG JÍ Heavy Rocket Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Shock CCW. (2 | 39)

    HǍIDÀO Engineer Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 28)
    YÁOZĂO Electric Pulse. (0 | 3)

ZHĒNCHÁ (Forward Observer) Submachine Gun, D.E.P., Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 34)

WÈIBĪNG Yaókòng Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 16)

PANGGULING (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)

There just isn't enough free points to take two Zhencha with that Daoying and Tai Sheng Core (you end up at 307pts). I don't think dropping the ML/HRL is worth the benefit of having two Zhencha.

Nice list, but healing unit miss you, don't you ? After all you have a lot of 2 wounds unit to heal up. It may take the haidao engineer place.

Fixed it. Ditched the Shang Ji and put in a Son-Bae you only want it there for ARO purposes anyway. Its job is to sit somewhere and die, and if you're going second it can be replaced by BS Zuyong when the link moves out.

Realistically I think both lists are essentially bad as I believe you are internally limiting yourself to playing limited insertion. Either list that goes second has a high chance it just gets alpha struck and crippled by any opponent that can spam some cheap attack pieces at you, particularly those of the warband variety that toss smoke. Playing IA without the MSV2 Haidao is essentially forcing yourself to win the roll to go first or get killed by warbands.

But for what you want to do that gets you a full core Zuyong link plus the two Zencha.
