I just started infinity and got a deal on some vanilla aleph models (starter, support pack, posthumans, dasyus, drakios et al. and the 300 pt steel phalanx box). i wanted to learn the game and saw that i should wait before adding posthumans to my army so i was thinking of trying something like this until i get the hang of things:

    Specialist aleph

So, there isn't exactly much focus in the list you posted.
Plus, and I can't stress this enough, in infinity the mission will overwhelmingly influence what you take, followed by your local meta (what sorts of forces you expect to face), followed by your opponent's faction and sectorial. That said, there's nothing wrong with putting together a "core" toolbox for a list that you use regularly, that way you can better learn what your units are capable of and what you need to add to cover your weaknesses.

When learning, you'd be well advised to start small and work upwards. 100 point games, then 150, 200 and eventually 300. Ignore hacking until you're comfortable with the basics, then add it in and see how it changes your options and tactics. See if you can play a couple of games in a row, first game with a relatively basic list, then the second subbing in a different unit with unique capabilities, like hidden deployment, airborne deployment, impetuous trooper etc. and see how that changes things for you.

So, first off, you have Atalanta in group 2 with only 4 orders. She may seem like an ARO piece, but that is a trap, she is an active turn killer. Consider moving her to group 1 and don't leave her out on ARO duty.
You have both Scylla and Drakios, these are both order hungry units that excel at attack. While I personally wouldn't take both, if you're starting out and don't have a large selection of models I don't think it'll hurt. Consider moving one to group 2 and putting them on DZ defensive duty until you have taken some casualties and can move them over to group 1 using a command token in turn 2-3.
Scylla wants to be the Killer Hacker version, I promise once you start using her with Cybermask you'll never touch the other versions.
I rate the Naga killer hacker much higher than the Dasyu, and I'd usually take every Naga I could in a list.
You have 3 basic Dakini and spare SWC, using some points you save elsewhere, take a HMG/MSR and make another a paramedic.

In terms of purchases, Dakini SWC box and the Remote box are good buys, especially if you want to include Achilles eventually as the 8 point REMs are the second cheapest unit in the army and you'll want to make space.

Posthumans are an auto-include in vanilla Aleph. MK1+MK2 (+ MK4 or MK5 FO).

As the @Cartographer says, the best thing to do with Infinity is to play some smaller games. Starter vs starter or 150 pts or so. Through this you’ll learn the individual skills and their tactical use, so you’re prepared to expand your army.

I’m a fan of Achilles + Patroclus, but they will quickly turn into an Achilles heel, as you invest so heavily in one model and losing it can shake your confidence. In Infinity the most dangerous model is the one orders are spent on, whether it is Achilles or a much cheaper model, and good players knows how to counter specialized threats.

As an overall rule, each model you choose should have a task: order monkey, specialist or gun toting crazy.

Order monkeys : net rods, daleth etc are there to full your army, and at best waste an opponents order, as he fails to kill them due to a bad roll.

Specialists : often win you the game, being needed to accomplish objectives. Often expensive infiltrators like the Naga or Dasyu, but cheap ones like daikini medics can just as easily win you the game. For that part when employing cheap and ‘useless’ troopers like daikini, always see, if you can’t upgrade them to specialists giving them a Dual purpose. Aleph has the three best specialists in the game, Machaon, the Myrmidon CoC officer and posthumans.

Guntoting Crazies : Like Achilles or the Marut or a simple Daikini with hacker support and an HMG are needed to put pressure on your opponent, Achilles can get behind enemy lines in round one and wreak havoc, but overextending these can easily lead to you losing them, so cover their back. On the other hand they’re often expendable as few missions are just about killing, so don’t be afraid to sacrifice them for the greater good. Then again if Achilles lives to round three, you’ll likely win anyway.

Note that while some factions have troops that are specialised in a role, Aleph tend to have multi purpose troops. An example is the FO thorakitai, which in my opinion is the best cheerleader (=order monkey) in Aleph (and one of the best of the whole game). Why ? It costs 13 pts, which is rather high for a cheerleader. But, for that price, it provides:
_ BS 12 + SMG, meaning you have an OK fighter and a very solid defender. Just put it into suppressive fire ! (coordinate several of them)
_ 360° vision. Best protection against AD and other surprises
_ ARM 3, which means 6 in cover. While ARM tends to be expensive, ARM 3 on a 13 pt miniature with many benefits is still very good
_ Forward observer. Which means 2 things. First, it has a flash pulse, with an OK WIP of 13. So it means he can stop any troop in his rampage, even a TAG. And second, it is a backup specialist if you need it.
So the FO thorakitai don't just sit in the back giving orders, it actually provide cover, stopping power and backup in case everything went south.

In the same way, most of our specialists can actually fight (nagas are a given, MK.1 has mimetism and BS 13, dactyls, even the sophotech is an OK fighter that can take a hit and still live). Troops that are fighters only tends to be either cheap yet powerful (dakinis) or REALLY powerful (Achilles, Lt2 Asura, Ajax, Phoenix ...).

Our lieutenants are often the "lieutenant that can do things" type. Machaon is probably the best of them, since he is a healer (and thus a specialist). Dont be afraid of actually using the lieutenant order. For example Machaon can throw eclipse or doctor someone with that order. Your lieutenant will often be obvious, and yes, you can lose it (and it sucks), but if you use it carefully you should gain more than you lose.

If your just starting i would suggest tring a 200 point games first with a single order pool.

Every list needs an HMG as much as everyone says there is no net listing a minimum requirment of mine is a HMG on a good platform

Dakini HMG is just amazibg when combined with a hacking device you can give the ignores cover program and is only 1 swc

Next point your swc is 3.5 i would to be hitting atleast 5 at a minimum as infinity burst is king. Your only burst weapon of 4 is the red fury which just doesnt cut it vs heavy infantry.

That Achilles Lt list needs a bit of work, you've got a few very order hungry hitters propped up by a wall of crap. The big hitters are very vulnerable to having their order pool destroyed from underneath them.
If you're a new player, aerial deployment, impersonation and more than a few skirmishers can make short work of those relatively undefended pieces so I'd recommend having a good read through those skills and being able to counter them

Indeed. I would recommand having at least one thorakitai FO to protect the backline. With 360° and SMG, it is a big threat to anything that could reach the backline, while being rather cheap itself.

I would avoid putting Dart in the smaller group, depending on the mission. She is an incredible attacker, capable of killing just about anything. I’d put her in the same group as the naga and leave the post humans in the second group with netrods and a flashpulse bot in both lists. The proxies can always have orders spent on them. Dart and the Naga can be a great duo or trio. Dart can clear out enemies and the Naga(s) (or Dart if you take with mines) can leave mines behind to cover objectives. Then the Naga khd can move in a grab objectives.
