Hey folks - would love some feedback on my first "serious" attempt at an all comers style list First few games I played were LI just to get a feel for some of the units, then I played a pair of 13-14 order lists in a tourney (loss-major-major), then tried a 20 order borings style list earlier this week. 20 orders was pretty great, but I do like to have more varied toys to solve problems with. So here's a 16 order list with almost everything I want in it... missing a Kriigel, but the Taagma will project as one usually. Robert Shepard's comment in one of the various threads about using the Sukeul ML in an attack triad inspired me. I've contemplated putting the Sakiel in the triad with the ML instead of the Taagma, then putting the Taagma in with the Draal. Not sure on that yet. The attack triad loses stealth if I do this, which makes it a bit more vulnerable to perimeter defenses, but it does give me Nimbus+ and a Viral combi. General plan when going first - group 2 throws smoke to get the ML attack triad started up the weak flank then pushes a button or sets up to defend the DZ. Group 1 heads down a flank to the enemy DZ and punches things, eventually setting up with the ML watching a crossboard firelane (hopefully). Going 2nd hide and watch close firelanes with the Draal and Sukeuls, using mines/Liberto to screen, hopefully costing enough orders that the bad guys end not having the resources to do much damage, while giving the Makauls juicy nearby targets. What am I missing or not thinking about? I know I lack MSV2, but I've never been huge on MSV.
I like that a lot. Might steal it, actually. You'll get a feel for how to tinker with the groups as you play it, but you've got four highly viable offensive triads there and that's impressive.
I'd swap the Sukeuls and swap one of the two Makauls with the Draal for the Kaeltar with your lt. It gives you better coverage for rangebands, spreads out your chain of command further from your lt for safety reasons, and gives the Sakiel triad a way to move up the table.
If you do end up giving it a run or two on the table if love to hear your postgame thoughts Thanks for taking a look guys!
Those 3 and whoever else. Remember that not all classifieds this season require specialists. Unless it's a Classified heavy mission I'm happy to go for secure or concentrate on mission objectives most of the time as well.
If you intend to pose Taagma as a Kriigel, you'd better hope that your opponent doesn't pay attention to your courtesy list, as Kriigel doesn't have Stealth. Otherwise it's a very interesting list. Please, do tell us how does it play out for you!
For sure. It isn't likely to come up often (except against perimeter weapons), but yeah - if I get called on it I can always shrug and say "this one has stealth... because reasons" and let them figure it out, heh. I'll have my first game with it on Tuesday, looking forward to it!
If this is for casual games, I would suggest swapping one of the Symbiomate Kaeltar with a Symbiobomb Kaeltar and see how they gel with your play style. I have found the flexibility provided by 'bombs in terms of ARO and active turn solutions to be more useful that another set of 'mates, especially when I plan to get a symbioarmor equipped unit deep into the midfield or beyond.
That list is exactly what I was trying to build currently. A perfect mixture of "high perfoming" models and throw aways. I hope you are ok with it that I use this as a basis for my future lists. Thank you very much for sharing this.
Absolutely - go to! Got my first test run in with it last night. Acquisition, going first on a semi-dense table vs. Morats. I should probably have taken a photo or two... Really happy with how it went. Group 2 spend a couple orders on the Sukeul HMG making a Suryat HRL and a Q-Drone HMG go away (shot them through the Draal's Stratuscloud). Got fairly lucky and put them both to unconscious on the first exchange with each. Then the Sukeul ML triad moved to get the left flank, taking out a linked Rasyat Red Fury and a pair of Ikadrons. Towards the end of the order pool the Sukeul moved out to shotgun a Daturazi, clipping another with the template. I still had my 'mate intact and they chose to dodge. Took one down and spent my last group 1 order backing off and staying out of LOF of the other side of the board. He didn't really have any big guns left, just the rest of the Daturazi link that was going to come after my ML triad. I spent the rest of group 2's orders moving up and failing to push a button with a Kaeltar. His turn 1 took a while because he wasn't sure how to react. The Daturazi eventually spent most of his first group's orders taking out the Sukeul ML, but not doing much else. His group 2 spent their orders positioning a Rodok haris and attempting to paramedic up the Suryat, which died. On my turn 2 the Liberto moved upfield and around the back of a building to catch the remaining Daturazi in the back with his light shotgun, taking all 3 of them out in one fluke burst of failed dodges and failed armor rolls. We called it at that point as he really had no teeth left alive, believe it was just a Vanguard hacker, his Vanguard LT, the 3 Rodoks, and Dr. Worm (no nurses). Not unsalvageable, but I was down just the ML at that point. Contemplating things after the match - I'm really growing to like Nehemiah's idea to switch one of the Kaeltar to 'bombs. Having a bomb on the Sukeul ML would have given me some other options to make the Daturazi's life difficult (or at least more order intensive). I think if I do that - the Taagma moves to the Draal's triad, and I remove a Makaul and replace it with a Sakiel FO (I'd love a Paramedic instead, but I need to find 1 more point). List looks like this:
I think it depends on if you're going 1st or 2nd. If I'm going 1st I'm thinking 'mates on both the Sukeul ML and either the Draal or Sukeul HMG - whichever is more likely to be engaging on turn one. Usually the HMG. If I'm going 2nd and the Draal is likely to do some roadblocking, he's a likely candidate, and probably still the Sukeul ML. Bombs (when going first) go on the Sukeul ML and probably the Sakiel since they'll both have an opportunity to use them or be reactive with them after their run. Going second, probably the Draal and the Sukeul HMG as likely targets of aggression. Hopefully that made sense. I have next to zero experience with bombs, so I may well be overlooking something.

Got to test your mates list against Tunguska and it performed quite well. Also tested a slightly altered list for supplies.
