So I'm just about to start a paradiso campaign with my steel phalanx Vs combined army. As our choice is tied to thorakitai, I was thinking of building down a shotgun/mimetism/hacker route as there's no other options for those guys in the team. Anyone have any experience or thoughts on builds? I know SWC free big guns are tempting but between the available Feuerbach, HMG, LRL and spitfire I'm a bit reluctant to go down that route
Depends on your other options, frankly. At least now you won't fear using the characters for fear of losing them... But since you can be forced to bench them half the missions, I would try to grab Doctor first. Remember, Thrasymedes is 0.5 SWC to make a Thorakitai link, while Alke is a 2.5 1.5 SWC (there is not a single instance in which I mention her and wish she had a Combi profile so she could be deployed at all), and you only doctors are Machaon and Dactyls. A mimetic doctor with BSG is quite the defensive unit, and fills up nicely the Thorakitai fireteam for few points. Of course, the other option is to up the ARO game, as Pedrogzc has mentioned.
Alke is 1,5 swc. I'm not very sure about Paradiso campaign, but having in a thorakites link 2 odd aro troops is quite strong (be careful with pesky MSV) Enviado desde mi Mi A1 mediante Tapatalk
Yeah doctor is actually a good shout, think hackers get some bonuses so might keep that in the shopping list when the xp comes flooding in (hopefully) lol
Minelayer is a skill missing from Steel Phalanx that can be super useful for covering your stuff. It’s only two points.
Yeah that's what I was thinking, AP mines great for slowing enemy down. Cheap as chips. Will boost wip and bs after next mission or so
