I've been sticking with Ikari over the last few months and they have been a ton of fun. However I find that I'm either:

    1. Taking the same units/fireteams over and over
    2. When I change things up and try out other units, it doesn't usually go well for me

Am I too reliant on what I'm "used to?"
Should I just starting taking all kinds of Random stuff?
Are you Forced into certain Fireteams b/c of their reliability?
Where are all my extra points/SWC so I can bring other stuff? 2nd Ru Shi or an Al Fasid?

I guess I'm feeling a little "Ikari Trapped" when it comes to efficient list building. There's soooo many fun murder-units that's it's tricky for me to decide on which one may work best or which will work with my play-style. Also I've found Ikari very unforgiving if things start to go down-hill and you lose a few key pieces.

In terms of what I feel I "must" bring

    - Standard Core of: 3x Keisotsu + 1x MSV2 Brawler + 1x ML Tanko (it's such a good/cheap team what's not to love?)
    - Karakrui (This thing is stupid good now with the boost to Total Immunity and the fact she's a specialist, too good not to have in every list)
    - Ru Shi (There's soooo many smoke options in Ikari that it seems like a waste to not have at least 1 of these guys running around even in conjunction with the MSV2 Brawler)
    - Yojimbo (I know he's not in everyone's list, but he's been the hero in just about every game I play and the bane of my opponents)
    - 4x Yuan Yuans (You're playing Ikari, you're taking 4)
    - EVO- bot (Since you have 4x Yuan Yuans and some REM's might as well get this guy in here)

From there it starts to get tricky on what else I should/could take. I love so many units in Ikari but it's just hard to take them all and I guess I just feel like if I'm not taking advantage of certain elements (smoke, EVO +3 to jump) then I'm losing out on efficiency.

Lol I know there's no easy answers and I appreciate this community letting me panic-rant a bit. How do you overcome these challenges?

Try the Wu Ming core  it's such a different take on how to play Ikari. I was forced into playing them because Rescue was on the cards at a tournament and normal Ikari has far too much impetuous stuff to reliably grab the civvies.

Otherwise, I would also try dropping the number of YY you're playing. I don't think 4 is necessary by any stretch of the imagination. 4 can have a place, but aren't an auto-include.

How about trying to focus on negative mods, rather than MSV? e.g. Le Muet with a Wu Ming nimbus launcher. Probably not good, but you won't know until you try it!

For me, I'm going to be trying the Druze core next to help take on Hunting Party. They seem really busted in that mission, supported by Akrylat Kannone bounty hunters and potentially a Cube Jaeger with e/mitter.

Yeah I've been eye-balling the Wu Ming Core. I just wish it was a full 5 instead of 4 + Clipper, but even so that's a pain-train if I've ever seen one.

And I suppose I don't need 4x Yuan Yuans, I ran with 2x once, but it was a poor choice at the time. Maybe more practice with less is good!

I do just need to stretch my legs and try out more options in general. I never knew how starved for regular orders Ikari can be sometimes. It's a tricky balance for sure!

Most of my command tokens go into converting irregular orders. I run the Wu Ming core with the Haris profile so I can ditch the clipper when the link breaks. Having an 18 point model in the pain train really helps to bring down the overall cost of the link, meaning you can fit in more coll toys!

Oo that is a good idea. Especially since the Wu Ming Haris options is 0 SWC. That is a good idea! Hmmmm

That's a very common thing in Infinity in general. From my experience it takes you at least 5-10 consistent games with a particular setup to get to know all its strengths and weaknesses.

Because you’ve taken the same thing over and over, you’ve learned how to use them well. Now just need to try different and do the same thing.

My go to link team is the Keisotsu, Tank Missile, Brawler MSR. Now I’m going to be trying out Druze+Tank Missile. Leaves less points for other things but man they hit hard!

    [IMG]5 [IMG]1
TANKŌ Missile Launcher / Pistol, Monofilament CC Weapon, Shock CC Weapon. (1.5 | 32)
    DRUZE (X Visor) Combi Rifle, Chain-colt, Panzerfaust / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25)
    DRUZE (X Visor) Combi Rifle, Chain-colt, Panzerfaust / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25)
    DRUZE HMG, Chain-colt / Viral Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 29)
DRUZE (X Visor) Combi Rifle + Light Grenade Launcher (E/M and Nimbus) / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 27)

    3.5 SWC | 138 Points

Keep a baggage EVO repeater near them and refill on those Panzerfausts!

Thanks @Guardian and @Space Ranger. Maybe I do need to change it up a bit and see what's going on with my other options since I'm fairly confident with what I use now

Just change it up on the mission. The Druze for when you can stay back and bring the hurt at a distance. Wu Ming pain train for pushing up into quarters or something. Etc. Just spending more points on those will make you change a few other parts of your list too.

I love telling someone to take a damage 14 hit by a combi rifle!
