So as its written in the rules if you use a template weapon it gets placed down if you succeed with the attack even if you loose the face to face. But what is with Special Dodge Smoke? Its a template, so is it activ if you succeed but fail the f2f?
Uhh, templates get placed on declaration, before any F2F rolls are made. A smoke template only persists beyond the end of the order if it wins all F2F rolls.
