I'm not usually one for wishlisting threads, but would anyone else like a Druze LT with panzerfaust as an option? When building lists I kinda feel like the only reason I would take a combi Druze is as an LT... But a PF LT would be a bit more defensible and a bit more useful in general! Also I'm interested to hear what LT options (of our 3) do people prefer?
If I'm building a Druze Core / Brawler Haris I actually prefer to use a Brawler as the Lieutenant. It gives me a degree of assassination prevention - if they kill my Brawlers, my Druze are still regular. If they kill my Druze, my Brawlers are still regular.
Yeah, between a Druze, Brawler, and Arslan, I almost always take a Brawler LT. The cost for the extra WIP on a Druze LT isn't really worth it, at the expense of taking a more valuable profile. Arslan is a bit of a trap of a Lieutenant, he's one of our best shooting pieces, and also has the biggest target on his head, he wants to be in the fighting, so why risk your lieutenant for that?
Because you want the free order, and with all your Veteran troops you don't really mind being in Loss of Lieutenant? I've had success with an Oniwaban Lt in JSA, with the obvious Kempetei backup - aggressive lieutenants taught me not to fear being in Loss; playing Ikari taught me that sometimes it's inevitable ;)
When playing LI, Arslan could be a valid option, but otherwise you don't have that much Druze and CP to compensate an early loss. So the points are better spend on the Brawler Lt, which is also good for adding an shotgun to your links. But I am very conservative with my Lts, since MO taught me to be carefull without some CoC stuff. @Fire@Will: Could you explain a little bit, how to deal with an early LoL-situation?
I only started thinking about it in Ikari; there are only 2 options there, and one of those has potentially prohibitive SWC cost. Simply, if it happens in Turn 1 and you don't have CoC, then you have one turn to reposition, but a final turn with an extra order on a scoring model (specialist, Datatracker, whatever). I was really looking for ways to turn the disadvantage to something less deleterious. So, save your command tokens: Don't use one at the start of the game, if you're going second, and don't necessarily reset your links. Value your Veteran troops (a duo of Druze utility pieces in Ikari and a Krakot gives you 3 orders to spread around), and for that turn impetuous or irregular troops aren't a liability, but a boon. Druze play into this pretty well; it's easy to build lists that weather LoL pretty well, and a cheeky Hunzacut or Saito Lt in the third turn of a game with few objectives can be crucial.
Play a shell game. I almost always use the Brawler LT. If i am paying a game where i think i'll be going against Speculos or Fidays, i'll holo a Bashi Bazouk as a Brawler and put him in a "secure" part of my deployment zone to act as the obvious LT. the actual Brawler LT will be part of a link or also in a secure place to act as a shell game...but better defended. So far it has worked.
It's almost a must in Ikari because Brawler is 1 of 2 Lt. choices and one of them is 1 SWC! Just hope the opponent can't figure out that what the Irregular order is.
