I'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to collections, so when I came across a cheap 300 point box ($50, how could I not get it) a couple months back I was like... hmm. Well, I kinda always wanted to try Tohaa, and this JSA experiment hasn't worked out very well, maybe it's time - they're going out of print, so I better catch them all now.

So yeah, I tracked down all the discontinued SKUs first, managing to get them at decent prices, then filled out the rest of the faction (yeah, all of it). I'm just now getting around to building things. I've played 2 games with them so far and am really liking how they feel on the table. I've been playing Nomads for 4 years prior - so it's nice to have things that don't fall over when they catch a dirty look from something across the table. The only duplicate SKUs I've picked up are the Sukeul combi (to convert one with an HMG), a 2nd box of Chaksa Auxiliars, and a 2nd box of Makauls. I think I'm good to go.

On the last question - I'm still working out my color scheme. Will likely be something with blue/purple armor and bone/cream white accents. I have a boatload of Warsenal Taugak bases I plan to use, and I'll start painting once I have my extended list components all built. Plan is to have two lists fully painted before Ragnarok, a two day tourney coming up at the end of October.

This is also my plan, but the actual end of times, not a tournament :P

I'm of the same mind. When I find a deal it is hard not to pass it up because I usually never get another chance like it again. That and I too like to fill out my options regardless if I play them alot.
I've been thinking of going the "bio-weapon/warrior" look. Basically flesh/meat looking Symbioite armor and tyranid/alien hive/scorn base terrain. Maybe a bone armor color.

Tohaa was the army I picked up when I started about 3 years ago, so I have been picking them up over the years, and have the full collection. I am hoping I will be able to put aside the time to paint them all before any large release, (if it really is 2-3 years before a new release it just may happen).
In order to come up with a color scheme and basing ideas I borrowed from a few Sci-Fi sources, primarily Dune, District-9, and Idiocracy. So I added hoods most of the Tohaa who do not have symbiont armor to protect them from the sun. I went with a blue for the symbiont armor, because this group of Tohaa have been working to establish a refugee camp on Bourak and have been feeding their Symbionts a silk by product. I painted their armor plating black, gave them brown body suits, and painted their cloaks white with a rough spun texture to it. The basing is rough dirt with a lot of added junk like newspapers, tires, bottles, cinder blocks, and bricks, with a patch of scraggly grass here and there.
This also helped me in thinking about the table I wanted to make for this army, which is a research facility with a few local buildings making way to a District 9-like slum area.
Most of this actually works out better due to the Tohaa being stranded in the Human Sphere after the events of Daedalus' Fall.

Tohaa are as far as I'm aware the only faction to have SKU's discontinued but not have equivalent replacements in a new sectorial. More importantly I don't think I'm far off in saying that the SKU's for vanilla Tohaa will most likely be taken up by O-12/other factions. In the long run I think it sets up a precedent that an SKU discontinuation can be taken up by a different faction/sectorial release. It also makes me concerned about how/if CB will find space to re-vamp them and how it can happen. When if Tohaa get a release what will be making room?

I wish the game success but I wish that Tohaa could've continued to be part of the developing narrative and continued being actively supported rather than being put to the s.

I love Tohaa and I think they will still be my main faction but this really has left me salty which can't be good for the cholesterol.

@CabalTrainee a curious Tohaa sectorial where:

    - You don't have the Tohaa Spec-Ops list
    - You don't have the Tohaa alien trait to discover impersonator

Like an N2 sectorial, Spiral Corps is funny, curious and playable, it comes with a lot of new units, some of them incredibly usefull and that makes Spiral Corps a more Charismatic sectorial than the most of NA2 "sectorials? somethings?", so we appreciate it, seriously, and you also can love it, with the rich background that Spiral Corps have

    BUT!

Like a Tohaa sectorial, Spiral Corps is a disappointment and a bunch of nonsense, not to mention that IS NOT what the Tohaa players "ask for" or "waited for"

I'm not saying that is a good thing. I just say it seems like that is everything tohaa players get. And i wouldn't get my hopes up for more.

What we Tohaa players need to do is to make a lot of noise by playing in the Campaigns and Tournaments. Show CB that we are still here and wanting more Tohaa. The worst thing would be for all of us to give up and move to new armies or even leave the game entirely.

I personally don't have access to many Tournaments, nor do I have the free time to do them due to young children. I do have the ability to get involved with the Global Campaigns since I have a table at home and friends who can come over to play. I will be making noise with my army the next time one of those comes along. (September I believe?)

Tohaa will be my main faction for Season 11. After a fairly dismal record this season with JSA, we'll see if I can make Tohaa do some damage. I usually get in a tourney in a month, including a few large ones.

So they discontinued the faction to free SKUs for its sectorial?
    Well, erm, yeah, great idea...

So if they ever deside to bring Tohaa back again,
they would have to drop some other faction/sectorial to free the SKUs?
Well, does not seem very convincing...

@daszul hahaha, of course that does not seem very convincing

it's a poor strategy to keep bringing more products and promove the multifaction brainless auto-buy xDDDD

We, poor Mono-Faction guys, are not the "target" of that "marketing movement"

That actually is the reasoning. SKU bloat is a real thing. It can kill an entire game in retail. The question nowadays is most of the time how to handle that. CBs approach is to retire armies and pump out new ones. This way they can always ride the "hype of the new train." (frankly i would prefer updates/reworks for existing sectorials). Other miniature companies have a different approach. Repackaging and shelfing old minis (Wyrd does that with Malifaux 3rd ED right now), or even the dreaded endtimes approach is what companies do (warmahordes smells hard like endtimes right now)

Seriously thugh couldn't they just repackage old armies in one big army bundle? That would be only a single SKU at that point.

Army Boxes aren't without costs though either. New boxing, Shipping, Manufacturing and Maintenance there of still cost lots of money. Even if the boxes were only available through them directly how many people are going to buy a $500-1000 box set that includes everything of a given sectorial?

True. Even though it would way cheaper. It would need only include models that were retired. (Acon for example would be Starter + Bagh-Mari + maybe Dragoe) Doesn't even need to be everything. Just an assortment the size of an Army box would be nice. Or the made-to-order way could be nice as well.

Malifaux seems to have the right idea.
What is this about WarmaHordes having a possible End Times event? I now what came about with Warhammer and their End Times (Sigmar) but what would happen to WarmaHordes if something similar happened to that universe?
