And more importantly, deep-fried ice cream is Mexican. (Cinnamon crust, fried just long enough to set up hard, so the ice cream is still frozen inside the warm shell. The ideal fair food!)

It’s a staple in Australian Chinese restaurants.
    And delicious.

Is that Chinese restaurants in Oz or Asian/Antipodean fusion cuisine?

We have a cuban/Irish pub (Fidel Murphy's), a central European/Caribbean place (The Czech Inn Grill), and an Asian/Indian restaurant (Bombay Chopsticks) all in our tiny 75 sq miles, so I'm never sure any more!

    Both.
Country towns usually have a Chinese-Australian restaurant- chow mien and steak and chips.

    Very well...

You named them French Fries when they're Belgian and you dumbed down the recipe to only fry them once.

    How's that for fightin' words?

Isn't Spandau a locality of Berlin?
So if a Dane asks for a Danish, he/she asks for a vienna bread by asking for a locality of Berlin?!?

Sounds like 'Berliner', were you get something different in Berlin than elsewere in Germany if you ask for it.

Well, it does matter if your kids wake up because you adress those little bricks with swear words not meant to be heard by kid's ears...

Why, though, would you make every electric household appliance come with a mandatory CALTROP!?

The right angle plugs do fit much more nicely behind sofas and cabinets than the in-line ones, I generally find them easier to push in/out of sockets too.

I live somewhere with USAian style plugs now and I kind of miss the UK style, though it could also be that the pathetic 110V that trickles out takes longer to boil a kettle for tea!

Given at work we've just had a health and safety alert circulated regarding the increased electrocution risk from US plugs and sockets, following a colleague electrocuting himself while attempting to plug in an appliance, I'll keep my bulky and safe plug thank you.
Also, because we have switches on the sockets, we don't need to unplug appliances to switch them off, so you shouldn't ever be in a position to step on a UK plug at night (unless you have a precocious toddler...).

Yep, UK plugs and their sockets are exceedingly safe, much more so than US, though this is partly due to the fact that our mains didn't have as good safety standards as elsewhere for the longest time and it was easier to make the bit normal people interact with safer (or so my electrical engineer Grandfather always said).

I double fry mine and so do places that know how to make them correctly. Some of us are remembering and honoring the Old Ways.
