The underslung weapon looks more like an LGL than a Zapper, so I doubt it's FO. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
That's nice and all, but that's also not how I see PanO, and you can't deny the Military Orders aren't an iconic part of Infinity. My view of the faction is more about their sleek power armor compared to others. Including knights, and guys in power armor and trench coats with HMG's. To each their own.
PanO's "shtick" has really been their TAGs, while YJ has all the HI. I'm assuming that we're not going to see TAGs in Defiance. Yes, PanO does have knights. But you used to only be able to take 2 knights in Vanilla, 1x Hospitalier and 1x other (or maybe 3x, 1x Hospitalier, 1x Santiago, and 1x other, I don't want to dig the N2 books out), plus the rest of the PanO HI (ORCs, Aquila, Swiss, and Guarda).
I really tend to disagree. PanO does have fancy armors and trenchcoats, but not all that many power armors. As Section9 pointed, TAGs and remotes seem to be PanO's thing. Remove that and it's mostly Medium and light infantry. I feel the unit they picked for Defiance is in line with that.
I agree that the unit chosen is in line with the flavor of PanO. My original point, which I feel is getting lost or overlooked or just flat out ignored, is that if they were to do MORE heroes, that I would LIKE to see a knight. That they represent a favorite aspect of PanO. And as far as what things stand out in a faction is a subjective thing. If I played the wargame it might mean more, but really, I'm just looking at models. Even their light armor looks high tech compared to other factions. Why the hell am I having to defend something I just said I'd like to see down the line?
So, we know from the Gen Con Valkyrie blister that she will be an "NPC". This seems like a way to introduce lots of Human Sphere characters without having to make them fully playable and fleshed out. Obviously we don't really know how this works yet but I imagine there's scope for bringing in other characters like De Fersen, the Dire Foes, Hippolyta and other Steel Phallus personalities, without having to make dozens of distinct full fledged playable characters.
You got these replies because of how you responded. You made it seem like you were convinced PanO's thing was Knights in power armors, so we responded accordingly, pointing out it wasn't like that. No one was disrespectful to you. I bet the backers that got their characters featured in the RPG books would swoon ver getting their own minis.
You're catching flak for 1) not being obvious about wanting MORE heroes before now, and 2) responding in a way that made it appear you thought that PanO's thing was Knights In Spaaaaaaace(tm). I would hope that CB makes one character for each faction before making a second character for anyone.
For point 1, their first post about it did say 'I hope for a Military Orders style hero at some point'.
Yeah, you can't fault @Ravrohan for not being clear. The tone of this part of the discussion was created by the strong negativity which was unnecessarily put into the replies.
Your first point is undercut by the quote you just posted, but if it was posted as a way of apology over the misunderstanding it makes sense.
