In the image below, can some tell me if the Attacker can see the Defender. The smoke grenade was dropped on the ground level, and the defender is on a rooftop, inside the circle. Due to terrain the circle is incomplete on the ground. Does the circle become complete as it goes up the building. I can't seam to find it in the wiki. I used to play it as it completes, then an opponent argued otherwise. Today I had the reverse situation. Ideally I'd like to have the wiki page to get everyone on the same page.
As with any other template, if you can trace LoF between the blast focus and the trooper then they're in the smoke. The big difference is that smoke creates a cylinder rather than a sphere.
So assuming the defender has LOS to point of impact he is in the smoke, and they still can't see each other. My CAD skill are not that great, the added lines are from the Center of the template.
Correct, if the center of the template is far enough from the building so that you can draw a line from the center of the blast to the trooper, and that the trooper is inside the circle (just like your drawing), then he is in smoke.
It would look like this (I might got the impact point wrong though): a quarter pyramid carved out of that cylinder
I will note that it's easier to play that the smoke column does not fill up the area 'cut out' by a building, but I do not believe it to be supported in general by the rules. The time it IS supported is when the smoke grenade is at the base of the building, so the LOF to the blast focus can only be parallel to the wall, vertical in other words.
