I always imagined it was more like the hacker unit in C&C Generals, you know, some dude actually sits down in the middle of the battlefield and whips out a laptop...
That is what an Ariadna hacker would do XDD (and probably the reason they settled for heavy firepower, special ammo and glue instead). The rest of the factions have those fancy high tech little devices with Holos all over the place. The joke here is that a unit doesn't need any special training or ability to use them, just the piece of Gear. A Scavenger model like an Irmandinho (for whom doesn't seem like coding is a part of his training) can just "steal" any kind of Hacking device (they aren't "non-lootable") and he just become a hacker!
Infinity Hackers aren't coding, just using programs. They are more like script kiddies or maintenance technicians... So their capabilities are defined by three factors: their equipment, their WIP and their BTS. Irmandinhos are a bit of a jack-of-all-trades with WIP 13, so they can use the programs of their hacking device, but no BTS means that they are inexperienced in dealing with being attacked by those programs.
Lol, I’ve just imagined the Expel program like a guy calling to the TAG cockpit: “Ey, you have a beautiful and horny guy/gal just next to your TAG and the enemy is retreating, just go for it tiger!” You got a good point there, yeah those hacking devices would rely heavily in programs and scripts to good performance in combat environments; but even in that case the one using it would need to use some hacking on the fly to adjust parameters and know what he is doing and how the programs works. For example, give a rifle to a totally untrained guy and that guy won’t be able to even load it, his accuracy would be shit, and he will probably break his own shoulder with the recoil. With the hacking devices it would be even worse; the Irmandinho shouldn’t be able to even initiate it or having a clue about how to use the programs and scripts inside it. But it’s plausible, we can assume some basic electronic warfare training for all soldiers or the hacking devices being fool proof; however I’d personally have given it the “non-lootable” trait. The hacker fantasy is a bit less shiny if any braindead goon can use the HD.
Tbh I just quickly snagged it off google images... 'TOHAADATING.COM Single artichokes are looking for horny singles in your area, click here now!!! no credit card required*' TAG Pilot: 'Hey I'm a horny single, wait how am I supposed to impress the ladies hiding behind all this walking tank?' *spams eject button*
I dunno, I feel like the giant walking tank would be rather impressive to the ladies. And dudes. Maletichokes need love too! On the hacking part though, I feel that at least SOME programation or hacking knowledge would be required to hack. It's warfare hacking, you have to be able to adjust your programs, find the right one and intrude a system on the fly while potentially under fire and always in danger. I don't think just anyone would be able to do that. Even the simple process of knowing the right program for the job would require specific training.
Yeah, and again the Gorgos shows its flaws... No chance to unmount that Symbiont Armor for a nice dinner.
On the subject of troopers doing things solely through gear, whenever I am playing my Brawlers in DBS me and my regular opponent joke that they just get assigned a piece of equipment as they are gearing up for the mission, like "Here Barry, you're the hacker for today, here's your hacking device, Simon you're the doctor, here's your medkit," and that explains the WIP 12 all around!
Naa, even if the Anaconda is rather un-fancy ("simple"), its manual must have a few pages - its pilot's WIP 13 is like the best stat it has!
I'm not sure, you don't want the ladies to think this, right? EDIT: This is that fragment of the show if someone is interested: "Ok, Let's be clear on something. The morlock won't never get the TAG again"
It's a built in security system. Only the flames of true love can deactivate the symbiont Armor (or a flamethrower, that would work too)
You can leave symbiont armor but you can't regain it: http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Active_Symbiont_Armor Spending one Short Skill of the Order, the bearer can cancel voluntarily the Active Symbiont Armor state to also cancel the Immobilized (IMM-1 or IMM-2), Isolated, or Targeted states.
Which is a problem... the lady wanted to go out with the juggernaut in the front, not the weakling in the back...
I mean, look at that sexy, manly hunk of artichoke! That sounds a lot less flattering when said out loud.
https://www.fantasywelt.de/Tohaa-Gorgos-Pilot this is the actual pilot didn't find her on the corvusbelli side...so she is not as bad looking as the chaksa in the back of the pic
