Gotta Love Dem Warband Pistols right ;) But as an aside here, I agree with the idea that everything should go into a list for a reason other than just "because it generates orders" even if its as simple as "baggage is a tie-breaker when you need it"
Haha your view is similar to mine; so once again I am waiting for White Noise, I could listen to it probably next week.
I got one of those 'educational' games from a vanilla Yu Jing guy at a recent LI tournament. Hac Tao ML at the back, Daofei and Guilangs mid, loads of camo shell and mine games. End of every turn he'd roll everyone back into camo state and I'd be looking at a empty board (again). FML.
I've thought of the same sort of thing. Not with both a Hac Tao and Dao Fei but I think this is what I would do. Plenty of good specialists. Lots of fake camo (Ambush, Mines) Tiger is not even on the board but how can you tell? @MicroWarp i been using sonething similar at what you say for the Barcelona Open and other minor tournements. The combination of Hac Tao missile launcher + daofei + a Kanren disguised of something expensive can blow you oponen mind. Over 4 games in 1 the oponent wasted resources on killing the fake Hsien (being the best when my oponen wasted all the orders his major group to try to kill it with antipodes). Sorry, I was playing Nomads and was too traumatised from getting my face pushed in to ask for a copy of his list.
So after listening to the podcast shall we change the title of this thread to: 'Is vanilla yu jing the strongest open format playable faction or is it merely top tier?'
I dunno how he's getting his math on Achilles vs Mad Traps at 55%. Also sounds like they forgot Saito's a Veteran for Dahshat and classifieds, and McMurder for that fact. They also forgot that Dahshat doesn't just have Line Infantry HI, they have Zencha, Hulangs and Al Fasids as well. Dahshat's actually pretty good at Highly Classified :/
I definitely recall mentioning McMurrough, but otherwise wasn't especially prepared for a conversation on a non-Nova scenario. I feel like the major risk is that you'll have several classifieds tied to Gromoz, who you can try to protect but ultimately not guarantee the survival of. However, this is still starting ahead of Ariadna who might not even have a hacker at all. Swings and roundabouts.
You can get a camo hacker on the Zencha and hide it amongst a bunch of other camo markers, you don't have to use Gromoz or the bots to do it.
This is a Yu Jing thread mate, not a Dashat thread. Sounds like you have some good thoughts though, why not make a thread about playing highly classified in the Dashat forum?
16 and 18 order yu Jing lists. That's kind of exactly where I end up too. At least when you use KS. I find the Su Jian really draws a lot of attention and can let some of yu jings other cost effective attack pieces (Rui Shi, tiger) really get some breathing room. Of course it means poor Kitty spends a lot of time hiding on a roof like a pancake.
Thanks for the sentiment. But the poll will really only show what some of your peers think as to the viability of certain factions, it won't objectively show their potential. I will mention one spoiler however: those whom I polled generally regard vanilla factions favorably, while most sectorials trail behind in terms of power rank.
If Achilles is hit by adhesive he fails his save on 10 up which is a 55% chance. And to talking about highly classified, the problem was basically you had one or two star units that could do heaps, which leaves you with little room for redundancy. But as Rob says above, not a discussion for the Yu Jing forum.
