    Hi all,

Nomads refugee here (boo! hiss!) who’s starting OSS for a change in play.

I recognize that the best way to play OSS is probably 15-16 orders backing up a Dakini link, Posthumans, and some solid solo pieces. That said, I love the Asura and want to make her LT2 Multi/HD+ profile work.

Any recommendations or thoughts on list design? This is what I’ve been running, but I want to get an Apsara in the list to power the Dakini link when going second, and I don’t like that I have no replacement for the MSR Dakini when it inevitably goes down. Of course, all that just may not be possible with the Asura sitting in there, and maybe the Apsara isn’t the right call with the Asura there to buff the Dakini (although I always seem to find myself going second, and I feel like OSS does best going second).

    Thoughts much appreciated!

Gives plenty of orders. It is light on infiltrators and has no mines, but it can punch pretty hard.

Of all things, it never occurred to me to put the Asura in group 2. That frees up a spot I was struggling to open up in group 1, and she has plenty of orders to do what she needs to do and can probably slot in to group 1 easily enough late-game. Good idea!

    Exactly. :)
There's also a few other things you can do, such as exchanging Paramedic and Apsara for normal Dakini and Deva FO, giving you 7 bodies for that link with a superior if slower specialist, etc. Garuda in particular is just because I love them, but you can probably slow in something that gives you more orders anyway, etc.

I actually really like the Garuda in group 2, also. Three orders post-drop feels about right for what it will need to punish a poorly deployed link team or cheerleaders.

I personally prefer to run the Asura as a Lt level 2 in a Yadu Haris, sometimes with the Yadu NCO HMG to make use of the 2 Lieutenant orders without breaking the link. I've found good success using this link in a list which ideally goes first as a LI list with 12 usable orders. The idea being to go on a 12 order alpha strike with that one Yadu Haris death star--pretty powerful!

The main question here is whether you take the Asura as the hacker profile, or the spitfire. The former means she's taking more of a backseat in the link, either throwing assisted fire on, say, a Rudra in the link, or fueling a Yadu HMG NCO with her lieutenant orders. The latter means the Asura is carrying out most of the orders of the link with her MSV3 and spitfire. For me it usually comes down to how many points of SWC I want to pour into the link.

Here's a list example with the Asura Hacker:

My only problem with the LT2 Spitfire in a link is that the two LT orders basically go to waste, unless you break the link.

I like the Yadu HMG NCO Haris as an option and will probably play around with a list like that at some point.

I've considered, but never played, having the parts for a Yadu Haris (whatever that means to you, whether Rudra or Devas or a Samekh takes part) and then forming it with a member missing but an Asura HD+ Multi rifle in there. Use the link to get the Asura to the midfield, bringing the extra along with, then break the link, Cybermask the Asura, and reform the link with the extra member. Boom! LT2 Cybermasked Specialist Asura in the midfield, along with an appropriately lethal Yadu Haris as well. You can also do this with an LT2 Spitfire and really go rambo, but I just love the HD+ Multi profile too much, and the thought of Bob from accounting suddenly revealing themselves as a freaking Asura right there with a rifle pointed at them makes me happy.

While i like the idea, and i've toyed with Asura/yadu haris, it's damn expensive. Especially if you want to make good use of your HD+ by taking a rudra (asura+rudra pair very well). But you need to take a 4th mini in an already expensive fireteam, then use orders to move that miniature in range of your yadus to reform your haris. The samekh FTO is the cheapest and the fastest "filler" but is not fit to be in the middle of the board contrary to yadus, there is little benefit in it. A deva sensor or AHD would be better, but of course, more expensive.

Another thought, do you really need the asura in the middle asap ? She can very well stay in your back line at the start, and support a yadu/deva/rudras haris while they get un the middle, and only move herself later.

Just take Dasyus and Nagas instead of Yadu Haris. No order expenditure getting them up there, and hugely more effective at whatever you need to do, including covering Asura HD+.

Fair point about the cost. What about a Deva link team? Devas can be in a team of 2 Devas and 1 Asura, and you could reform with a Haris Sensor Deva, a BSG Hacker Deva, and a MSV2 Spitfire Deva. That's a lot less points than a Yadu link, and while Devas are nowhere near as scary as Yadu, they're still not exactly slouches in a link team.
