Oh a agree there. I didn't say it couldn't be done. Just that the rest of the list is going to be a bit lacking.

And they don´t even take the afford to translate the fluff text in english :-(

I don´t see the the point to take him instead of Tai nor do I see a need to take him anyway. Most unwanted profil with a mini and we have to wait more then three month (releases for september were already teaserd) for the real TAI. I want Tai and not "hurra now we can make a Guija list with IA even more expensive, with even less options". This is sad.

If Krit is shit but I get a Guijia that isn't shit out of Krit being released... I mean I won't be super happy about the whole deal but if I get a not shitty TAG out of it I can live with it. I have lots of good HI, I don't have any decent TAGs since they stole my fucking O-Yoroi so priorities I guess.

    Here's the Google translated lore.

Who is Krit Kokram? Combat engineer, specialist and tip man of the Invincibles Zúyŏng. That's what you can read in your military record. But, outside of that history, you can hardly find information about him. Some rather bland academic records and a driver's license that place him as a resident in the city of Batta Racha and ethnic Thai, the only two data that are true. Because Sukrit "Krit" Kokram is a ghost, a standard false identity, of which the Imperial State Army provides all those who are ready to leave behind their past and start a new life in the service of Yu Jing. The real name of Kokram is Bryant Vichainarong, or it would be if it were not because Bryant Vichainarong is dead, at least that is what is recorded on his death certificate, and on the tombstone of his tomb. And that's what Kokram wants everyone to believe, especially the members of the Sonakul group, one of the biggest gangs of drug dealers and illegal racing Batta Racha, to which this man belonged when he was still called Bryant Vichainarong.

Of those, Bryant led a good life as a criminal: he was more than a gunslinger, he was the group's chief mechanic, who set up the band's cars for both clandestine races organized in the port area of the city, and for attacks on other bands. Nobody like him knew what adjustments a machine needed to give its best, and how to convert a simple utility into a low-flying vehicle. Exaggerations aside, the fact is that Bryant was daring in the action and very good with his hands, and everyone in the group admired him. Everyone, including the girlfriend of Kowit Sonakul, the leader of the band, a girl who admired how bold and good he was with his hands. An admiration that would lead them both to a very risky and really dangerous game, but, when you have grown up in a criminal culture that loves speed and firearms, taking risks is not only part of the game, it is that gives emotion to life. Until Kowit Sonakul learned of his affair and the level of emotion went up so much that it ended the life of the girl and almost with that of Bryant, who narrowly escaped a trap-bomb in his attic. The explosion was carried ahead to a rental muscle that he had hired to escape, leaving on his floor a scarcely recognizable corpse and with the flask destroyed, which allowed Bryant to fake his death and gain time to reach a recruitment office local of the Zúyŏng Invincible Regiment. There he applied to enter the Program Xīn Dekāishǐ, New Beginning, which he could access because he lacked antecedents: in the Sonakul group, Bryant was one of the so-called "legal" ones, those whom they have never arrested.

In this way, the army gave it a new identity, but also a new purpose, because no one enters the Xīn Dekāishǐ Program without paying a price. The members of this program receive special instruction and become automatic volunteers for sensitive operations, those in which it may be necessary for the government to deny their participation. This is the ultimate purpose of the Xīn Dekāishǐ Program, because if the mission fails or the operation is captured or eliminated, there is nothing simpler than erasing that new identity from all registries, and denying any involvement of the Empire State in the matter. Thus, the man now called Krit Kokram could continue enjoying his love for danger, but now at the forefront of the Invincible Army, the most formidable combat force of the Human Sphere, with which the level of risk is always the highest possible. This is Krit Kokram now, a Zúyŏng specialist who shares with a dead man the cocky style and the fascination with the big guns of the Thai gangsters of Batta Racha.

Seems quite similar to old kodali lore tbh. Hope old m8 krit doesn't take the sepsitor L.

    Yay, a Duo with Guijia.

Uhm, I don't think you can swap a Shang Ji in there, not how I'm reading the wording.

    Sadly.

With the current mess that's erupted around fire teams yeah really hard to say what's legal and what's not.

Don't know, it may be legal as you have a special duo swaping one of the members for an other with the fireteam duo rule

Like when people pick a core of "frontoviks" + 112 with 4 vet kazaks (with the core rule) and a 112.

Anyway with the total link caos we will need to ask oficial confirmation

The Shang Ji has the Duo Special Skill, what would be stopping it?

Dunno, maybe the Guijia doesn't count as an original member or something.

The fireteams thread really needs an in depth explanation sooner rather than later.

So some random gangster mechanic turned deniable military asset?

    That's actually rather neat enough.

This reminds me of the time just before human sphere when the devs said bao would make the pheasant worth taking.

The “original member” stuff only applies to Fireteam: Core. Nothing in the recent update has caused any changes for Duo or Haris.

But I agree that the fireteam construction rules could use an overhaul.

Nice to read that Krit is actualy a Thai. Most YJ are only chinese oriented, now that we lost the japanese section. But YJ is meant to be a melting of all asians. But why "Bryant Vichainarong" Bryant is very much not thai. Not even a Thai Nickname.

The mini is still good, so I think I use him as a gender-changed Tai proxy ;-)

I like the contrast between Krit and Tai's backgrounds. Krit is a cocky criminal who joined the military to escape his old gang, while Tai seems pretty much as Lawful Good as they come.

I really hope the Guija wildcard duo works, that would open up some neat options!

D&D morality system is meeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhh especially the good and evil is way terrible, but if you want to use that terminology Tai is probably Lawful neutral as is the vast majority of the population.

Now outside of that morality black-hole Tai is a patriot and everything right about Yu Jing, Krit is again, oddly enouph, a showcase of everything right about Yu Jing, they are oddly lenient in giving a second chance on a clean slate (with benefits to both parties involved).

I mean, I agree about alignment systems - and even D&D itself has realized how flawed it is (they've removed any mechanical effects related to it in 5E), but I think it's still a decent shorthand. I meant it in the sense of motivation - Tai seems to be driven by a more selfless sense of patriotism and idealism, while Krit is out for thrills and to save his own skin.

That's an interesting point about second chances in YJ though.

Heh, fair. I like to imagine every faction has heroic characters though.
