Luckily this game isn't known for being perfectly consistent. =)

When creating a Fireteam: Core that includes Wildcard troopers, you must include at least one trooper from one of the units listed for that Fireteam in the Sectorial chart, or a trooper who counts as one of those units.

Thank you for the answer !
Could you please clarify what does that mean for Special Fireteams? For example, if we take Dahshat Company's Zuyong Core, is 4 Bounty Hunters + Rui Shi a valid combination? ABH are wildcards, and RuiShi can be included as a part of Special Fireteam.

How does this work with special fireteams?

@HellLois, at this stage you guys need to sit down, have a think about every fireteam in the game. Because the wording you've used is all over the shop

Please, instead of giving us an off the cuff ruling, sit down, work through every single fireteam and the wording thereof and be sure you are banning/limiting ONLY the ones you want because this doesnt even scratch the fireteam under discussion which started this all.

That core needs a Zuyong to be legal. Because you must include at least one trooper from one of the units listed for that Fireteam in the Sectorial chart, or a trooper who counts as one of those units.
The ABH can be part of any fireteam. The Rui Shi can join a Zuyong Fireteam, neither both counts as a Zuyong.
So 4 ABH+Rui Shi is not a legal fireteam.

    right, So 4 Frontoviks+112?
Is it a 4 Frontovik+112 core? is it a 112 Core? or a Frontovik Core?
    Is 4 Vet Kazaks+a 112 still legal?

This is what Im getting at, these links are all over the game. How are we supposed to know the difference between which of them is legal or not?
    None of this is clear

    Well it seems:

A "special" Frontovnik core, as 112 doesn't have a fireteam core listed as an option.

    No, thank god!
(but 1 Frontovnik + 3 Vets and a 112 looks to be ok)

I think it's a Fireteam: Core of the Trooper(s) with Fireteam: Core in their profile.

So as long as you have at least one of the Troopers with Fireteam: Core in their profile listed in the entry in the Fireteam Sectorial chart (or a Trooper that 'counts as' one) when forming the Fireteam, it's a legal Fireteam Core.

Sorry, but under HEllLios's wording, its a Fireteam Core listed in the Fireteam list.

It is not a "Frontovik Core" that includes a 112.

@HellLois How is the Yan Huo special Haris (or similar) handled - which one is the "main" trooper, the "up to 2 Yan Huo" or the "Zuyong Haris"? I.e. is the below using 1 Yan Huo and 2 Wildcards (one of whom have Haris) okay?
    [IMG]3
YĀN HUǑ (FTO) MULTI HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 53)
HǍIDÀO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 26)
SHÀNG JÍ (Fireteam: Haris, Tactical Awareness) Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower + TinBot B (Deflector L2) / Pistol, Shock CCW. (0.5 | 43)

And what difference do you think that makes?
You are only allowed one Fireteam Core, the fact that it is a "special" core is irrelevant.
Oh I see, you want to know if the 112 is sufficient to form the core, well obviously no as it doesn't have fireteam core listed as an option, only the Frontovniks do so a minimum of 1 of them is necessary.

@HellLois : I'm sure you doing your best. But rules updates and rule answers in many various places ... forum and now podcasts ?

I don't like GW, but at least they have one official doc with official answers updated regularly. Everything else is event convention / house rules etc ... I think that is the way things should work and you did a great job on last FAQ with the warcors. Why not keep doing it that way ?

I love Guthier's work but I talked about some rules weird interactions with him and he admitted that he worked on so many versions of the rules that he can't always remember wich one is the right one or provide the most informed answer to a rule question. Maybe he got caught off guard on this one. You don't have to make it official.

We got that is the core of the companie's work is producing and selling miniature, that is what you focus on as this is what get you money. But the rule system and what people say about it (good / bad, complicated or rule answers spread all overt he internet) have huge impact on sales. At least it has for people in my local gaming club.

This is not obvious at all.

Additionally "Core" Is not a skill as haris is.
And even if it was, the Vet Kazaks would fulfil the "Core" requirement, in the same manner that Patsy does in a Kamau Haris.

None of these interactions are spelled out, we are all reaching without a clear description of how these work. What we have been told is currently insufficient as far as it goes

EDIT: What do we do when the "special" core is a mix of two units independently able to form Cores?

ORCs+Fusiliers? is it one of either or one of both?

It doesn't need to be a skill, what units can form fireteams is listed in the sectorial pdf and 112 can't form a fireteam core.
There is no permission for a 112 to join a Vet fireteam, only a Frontovnik fireteam.
Up till now it's been a "silent" requirement (as in, no one bothered) to specify what unit the core was from, the addition of wildcards muddied the waters and HellLois has clarified things. You need a minimum of 1 model from the unit (or one that "counts as" that unit) that is composing the fireteam; wildcard =/= counts as.

So Patsy can still form a "Kamau" Haris so long as there is at least 1 Kamau present; it's now been clearly spelled out that she can't form a "Kamau" Haris with 2 Clippers. Likewise, Dashsat can't form a "Zuyong" core with 4 ABH and a Rui Shi.

ORCs and Fusiliers? (which is required? both are Cores)

Yan Hao Haris? (which is required? one is Haris?)

Ashcroft Hunting Party? (Ashcroft or the ABH required? Neither are linkable on their own)

Can you answer these with HellLios's answer?

It is about CORE Fireteam. CORE. Not Haris, not Enomotharcs, not Thriad, not Duo. Just Core.
And Special Core should be still Core.

Of which troop? ORC or Fusilier?
Or are you saying the 112+4 vet Kazaks is legal?

What's your question? You can still only have 1 Core or Haris.
In the first instance it boils down to irrelevance weather it is a "Fusilier" core or an "Orc" core as both have permission to form the core and form the special.

The second is actually more difficult as the Shang Ji (Fireteam: Haris) exists, but as both Zuyong and Yan Huo have the special Haris listed, the Shang Ji could use wildcard to replace a Zuyong and form a "Yan Huo" Haris. Yan Huo can't for a Haris on their own, so you can't replace the Zuyong with a Shang Ji.
