I recently came into an old metal Maghariba Guard. I love the model, but I've only recently gotten into Haqqislam. I've got an understanding of what's good and what's not, but only on the most basic level. I'm interested to hear your ideas on how to make a good 300pt list with Maggy.

Here is my list. The overall strategy is to have AL-DJABEL take out anything that can outrange/damage Maggy with a Killer hacker for any hackers that would be a problem. I like the Halqas as cheerleaders when I'm playing order intensive models. The benefit of this is that they can start in control zones. This lets you save orders for AL-DJABEL/Maggy and makes your opponent work to clear them out. 4 is my magic number so they can do a coordinated order and go suppressing turn 1. DJANBAZAN HMG to as a Camo/smoke Counter. An engineer is to get Maggy back if needed, and a Shihab for the last of the SWC and a second repairable model for the engineer. I haven't used the Halqa at all yet. I think its because I'm worried they will be over exposed so far up the board and fear losing that many points, rather than the usual ~12 for Ghulam. Do you find this to be the case, or are they usually ignored for higher priority targets?
1 or 2 halqa I find don't last long, they are better hiding and grabbing objectives. But having a pile with overlapping LOF can really slow your opponent down. I've had games where 7 halqa forced my opponent to stay in his deployment zone until late turn 2. By turn 3 I was crippled but the scenario was built around getting points at the end of each turn. It was impossible for him to win because he lost too much time. In this list I would focus them in buildings and in a small area with no LOS to his Deployment zone. Make it hard to get in there. It will be easier for your opponent to go in another direction were you have Maggy ready to deal with them. Having them all on roof tops suppressing is a waste, your opponents link team will just take out 1 at a time. But if you force your opponent to go threw a gauntlet to take them out. He'll look elsewhere. This lets you keep you Control Zone and your orders, while herding his models.
Well that sounds like an incredibly fun play style! I tend to do something similar with Farzans, Hunzakuts, Daylami, etc. so I can't wait to try out the halqa! The Halqa HMG is great, if you can put him on a flank on top of a building. Supplementing him with a FO and a Doc would help him out a great deal, because besides their obvious functions, they provide cover for the HMG during the reactive turn. With a mine from the Farzan, this team will be hard to dislodge, which your opponent will want to do likely, if he doesnt want an HMG shooting in his flank. This will drain a lot of his orders, if he does. either way, you win. The problem is, where to find the points for that and a new Lieutanant?
I wouldnt feel to comfortable with the Halqa Lieutanant, but if you have a plan, go for it. Whats the Krakots job in this list?
Yeah, the Lt. is the one piece I'm really not sure on. The Krakot fits the theme with deploying outside of my normal deployment zone. In addition, he's a great, order efficient, hunter.

I tweaked my list by replacing my Barid LT with a Mujib smoke LGL Lt. I think its works much better this way. I got a chance to play it in 'Safe area' against a newer player. It did well, but not as expected. I went second and hid virtually everything. My opponents (Onyx) got a leget in B2B with my impersonator and was able to take it out for 3-4 orders. and the TR remote lasted the usual 2 orders, but my opponent had to spend spend an extra order afterwards to remove the model completely or I would have repaired it withe the prone Narajun prone 2 inches away. In the end he had a slow first turn. My Tag risked a F2F against a Morat ML (4x11 vs 2x12), and took a missile to the face for 2 STR, but repeated it and was able to kill it. Then effectively Hid the rest of the game. He only got 2-3 orders the entire game. My LT used his Lt order for smoke giving my Djanbzan a shot threw smoke on 2-3 targets, which made easy work of them. On turn 2 my opponent spent too much time on trying to hack my tag (total control), but never got it to work. My Djanbzan was able to work threw the last of his Morat link making my opponent forfeit at start of turn 3. My halqas were prone and cheer leading the entire game. I barely moved forward, and was planning running for zones turn 3. My opponent is still fairly new to infinity and was still learning how to be cost effective with his orders. I think 80% of his order where on his link team, and when they finally died, he didn't have anything in a position to push forward. Also my tag was basically bait, while the djanbzan did all the heavy lifting. So it wasn't a proper test of the list. In hindsight it may be better to juggle the list a bit more to be one battle group to be immune to losing orders. The list isn't really a heavy first strike list, but it may be useful to have the extra 2 orders if you are starting. Muyib LGL Lt is a sensible alternative and a prime candidate for non basic trooper Lt. Frankly, his only downside is his special SWC pricing that throws a wrench into daylami PzF spam you may or may not want to do and/or can give his identity away.
Any Maggy list is not going to be tournament level list. It's not that great a tag. But in a fun games it's worth playing. For those lists I tend to play models that let me use the Lt order. If you look at my list I only have 1 legal Lt profile. I can change a Halqas FO to a Lt if i want to try and hide my lt but the extra order is fun. The Muyib LGL is probably my favorite open. I can always use a smoke within 20 inche's of my deployment zone. Especially in vanilla where I play the djanbzan HMG. My second favorite open Lt is a barid, but since it's a hacker it can be attacked via non-traditional methods. When playing in a tournament i make sure to use multiple Lt options. Against newbies I like to use the Lt order to give them valid target. It's a video game weakspot with glowing lights they can go for.
