@ijw, @HellLois and everybody else I know this has been discussed to death in the past but can I get a definitive answer: Do you measure the distance of Speculative Fire to the main target or the point of impact when firing none-Smoke Grenades?
Range is the distance between the attacker and target, nothing in the speculative fire skill overrides this distinction.
Like the others said, range is measured to the target. No exception is given for the template being placed off-centre.
@ijw @Cartographer @toadchild Thank you very much. The rule regarding measurement to a target is indeed very clear but since we are no native speakers, my mates tried to misunderstand the particular rules for Speculative Fire as hard as they could without reading them properly. So I wanted some outside confirmation.
That is indeed completely counter intuitive. I would have keep doing that if not for some references people to tell me otherwise.
I was one of those who thought differently, and I was measuring to the impact focus of the template. To be honest. I thought that I should mark impact focus, and indicate the main target. Now I can see, that in fact with Speculative Fire I can move the template around to get the best spot! Not a game changer, but quite important. Good to know I was wrong last few years :)
Here then is my first nomination for Forum Post of the Year 2019; (... whatever happened to Forum Post of the Year 2018? )
