I have "ignored" a few users. Until today, they and their posts were completely invisible, just didn't show up at all. Now, there's a frame of the post with their avatar and the "spoiler box" saying "You are ignoring content by this member. Show Ignored Content".

This is a change for MUCH MUCH worse. Previous functionality was perfect, I could ACTUALLY ignore their existence and posts. Today, I have to be aware that they're still posting on the forum and I'm tempted to click to view whatever annoying BS they posted.

I'd like to return to the previous setting, please?

I am not aware of the change, I will ask tomorrow if it was intended, if it is, it is a much asked for feature, not sure if total invisibility and this can coexist as options.

i disagree. as it was, someone quote me, reply to me, then change paragraph and reply a bit more hostile toward me. Oh wait! that wasn't toward me, that reply was against an invisible quote from a member I ignored.
I need to know when someone reply to an ignored user if he's replying to the same quote earlier in his post or if it is a reply to an ignored quote.

Sometime there is a single quote and is still a problem. I notice someone post, and think what got into him, only to realize there is a missing ignored post and his reply was to a quoted part of it.

Even more so, sometime he doesn't even quote him, he simply post his answer and i wonder who is he answering ?

    We need visual clues.

I could still see them quoted, I just didn't see their original posts. The context was preserved when their replies were invisible.

Also, the ignored user shouldn't be able to PM me like they just did.

Then the invisibility might've been a glitch? It was a great one then.

That's weird, because my setup is not even showing me the places where someone I'm ignoring is replying, nor is it showing even that another person quoted someone I'm ignoring.

I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with Firefox.

    OK, that is an issue.

They should get an error message saying "you cannot send a PM to that user."

If I'm ignoring someone on the forums (there aren't many), I don't want to see ANYTHING they write. Especially not a PM. They can ask a mod (or another user) to PM me for them if it's that important.

How did you achieve that? That's the effect I'm looking for.

Mine works the same way as yours, Windows 10 with Firefox

Mine, quite obviously, doesn't. Opera, Win10. I got a notification about Triumph's reply here and I can see his post with the "ignored" message.

Hilariously, I checked on Chrome and it's working as it should, no notification and the post is not there.

Ergo, implementation correct on Chrome / FF, not Opera?

Well, I'd prefer to see the version you have in Opera, actually.

I also did a force-update of Firefox after my last post in this thread, but I still don't even see the posters I have Ignored.

In turn, I absolutely hate the Opera version, because at best it's equivalent to spam and at worst it feels like being stalked. I don't want to see those people at all.

Not per account, but per browser... the software gets funnier every day.

I wonder if it's related to the new waves of spam, or just coincidence.

Probably coincidence. I've been trying to recreate the bug and it's even funnier than that.

If I unignore somebody and reignore them on Opera, the view is "visible but hidden" on Opera. But if I unignore them on Opera and reignore them on Chrome, the view in Opera is "invisible mode".

I have no idea what's going on in the Forum software.

It could be related if all is due to some general change, like an update that lost settings.

OK, this is the entire thing I see when there are ignored users posting in the thread:
    Screenshot_2019-05-02 VIRD against impersonators.png

Again, that's running Ubuntu and Firefox.

No, honestly. Something's really borked with how the flags are refreshed between both caches.
