Hey guys, wanna try a Sphinx list but don´t want to buy the actual mini. What are you using as a proxxy for the model since its really kind of ugly :D??? Thx
I'd go with a Xeodron, even though calling Sphinx ugly is a heresy :P edit: on a side note, did anyone notice how awesome Gwailo with M-Drone in tow is at removing MSV AROs?
Pfff. Buy the current one and then buy the new one. The mistake the previous poster made is clearly the typo “don’t want to buy the actual mini”. What can that actually mean?
Purge this heretic Sphinx can be reesculped but don't know when are release, so still wait atm to buy another s6 to proxy her. Or buy the old sculpt (and she are very original, mate XD) or get the Anathematic. GLHF on your sphinx list, get funny with her :)
Aside from the Albedo being a boon in itself, you can drag M-Drone into MSV trooper's sight, forcing him to take ARO. This means that MSV unit can either shoot at M-Drone od Dodge, so Gwailo can shoot it without being shot back in return.
I'm having a problem envisioning this. So both Gwailo and Drone move out into LoF of an MSV trooper. He can't see Gwailo due to Albedo. His choices of ARO are to Dodge or shoot back at -6 against the Gwailo. He doesn't need to worry about the M-Drone because it's not the Duo team Leader. He know's it's not going to shoot. He can shoot at it but that's stupid and leaves him wide hope to whatever the Gwailo does. BTW, how does an Gwailo use Albedo with the MSV HRL? Doesn't he blind himself? It's Obligatory so it's not like he can just not use it.
The Reactive trooper can't ARO against the Gwailo, he can only BS Attack against a model he can see (the M-Drone) or Dodge. Albedo also doesn't affect the user.
Ok so he can shoot the M-Drone (a sacrifice), or Dodge. The Gwailo can then shoot the MSV troop! I get it now. Oh man I want to use this against certain Intruder players lol. Sorry you can't see me and I ignore your camo! Oh and BTW even though i'm out int he open I still have cover!
Exactly. I've started playing Shas back in N2, and was wondering for a long time how their HI would work. The unit I had in mind actually showed up in another faction as Ayyar. I never thought about such a direct unit as the new Gwailo, but I must say it should work perfectly as a tip of the SEF spear. Speaking of direct firepower - have anyone else wondered how good SEF is at it? We have camo, shenanigans, and dirty tricks aplenty, but we also have Nox fireteams which can be led by Sheskiin or Hasht (another linebreaker unit), Cadmus RF, Caliban Spitfire (especially MSV1 loadout), Jayths, Sphinx, Q-Drones... there's a lot of firepower here, some of it hidden in unexpected places. We can still play with a "blank courtesy list" type army, but we can also get in enemy's face almost as good as PanO can.
The only place where Shas strugles is long ranged firepower, and a lack of smoke to approach long lanes directly. But you have *plenty* of other options, and camo itself is at least a 8" approach to break those lanes. I think shas is in a really good place right now, the only issue is the (standard for CA) bloated line infantary cost making order spam not really viable. But you have *plenty* of solutions for most problems in the game. And the gwailo might not be extremely shas-like, but it is exactly what the army needed - a high burst option to handle the pesky msvs that might be lurking exposed to reveal camo. Only issue is that he does not handle the linked kamau well, but then, almost nothing does by itself. And you have impersonators and a crapload of infiltrators for a reason.
I've been wondering about using 2 HMG Q-Drones combined with Nimbus+ LGL and Modified by Hacker. Especially good against MSV types. However, the -6 will really suck for the drone. He's gaining defensive power by hurting it's own offensive.
- Noctifer ML, Haiduk MSR+MSV2, Nox MSR linked and T-drone linked. Qdrone HMG, Nox HMG linked, Gwailo HMG/HRL linked. Smokes from speculo in forward deploys. Shasvastii have pretty well covered range weapons, tactical smokes and new toys. Also you can go with 14-15/16 orders with lot of REM list and basic core of plenty Nox and a couple taighas to run, not spammy list but you can do.
I've found the Jayth Red Fury to be quite a good little gunfighter. MSV1, BS12 and ODD in defense offset by the fact that he needs to be in a fireteam to retain cover bonuses. I've used the Gwailos a couple of times with the HRL profile, and it was pretty good, but really do miss that high burst - will be taking that delicious looking AP Spitfire for a run next.
I was thinking that he would be great for just moving up and putting into Suppression fire. Though I guess the SMG in Suppression fire is about as good.
But he can ARO if the Albedo model is acting alone, right? How? Does it get to delay until fired upon? E: nvm, re-read the order expenditure sequence rules
It can't see the Albedo model so it still wouldn't get an ARO after the Gwailo moved. However, once fired upon they can return fire as per the zero visibility zone rules.
