Are you running these three as a core? Or am I missing Hannibal having a haris profile?

Edit: yes, he does. I cant read. :(

For all the concerns with Foreign links, one really cool thing is the SWC free Harris options with Hannibal, Laxmee and bolts!

How do we feel about the Iguana? I brushed him off at first but I'm starting to see merit in having a tough shooter like that. Especially bringing the repeater increasing Laxmee's threat range.

The problem is that the Kriza is probably better points spent for a piece that performs the same role.

There is nothing tough about the Iguana, more often than not the operator will be forced to bailout on the first face to face then you are down to a below average HI with a HMG that you paid 70ish points for, even on TAG focused mission it isn't a great option as you will be down a scoring piece relatively quickly. Also you are correct in that the Kriza does the same job better for less points, and is easier to hide.

Though with it being the only TAG option available to FC it means we have to find a way to make it work as opposed to just grabbing something else instead. Which could be an interesting challenge.

The Iguana is, quite literally, the toughest unit in Foreign company. It rocks the highest ARM value and is tied with the ORC for the highest ballistic skill.

I agree he's not a great unit but for his price he's probably one of the better TAGs.

I disagree with this statement, all the other nomad TAGs are superior, same goes for CA, Pano, the Guija, O-Yoroi, Scarface, and Marut.

ARM is a largely useless stat and it's wounds and STR that really matter, and while it kind of has 4 for two of those it's as about as effective as a battle ravaged blackjack. The BS14 is nice and definitely one of it's advantages, but if you want a BS14 HMG why not just take the Orc?

If you can get it to work let me know how, because I'd love to be able to use it and not spend and entire game wondering why I didn't take a Gecko, Lizard, Szalamandra or Kriza.

    I dunno,

Like the comparison between the Anaconda and Mobile Brigada in Starco, I do wonder in the Iguana compares favorably to the ORC, point for point.

44/2 plays 71/2 for +2 Arm, Move 6-4, a Repeater (very cute in a faction with Zeroes, Crocmen, and Laxmee) and you spit out a baby HI after you lose the last wound.

    Tough call.

Additionally, the ORC HMG could be in a link, which makes it a much better shooter.

I'd say the Iguana is a viable alternative but not necessarily a straight upgrade to the ORC.

The Iguana may not be the nicest TAG in the game, but it’s literally all that FC has got. And in missions that need a TAG to score, well, you’re bringing it so learn to make it work.

Laxmee seems almost mandatory in Iguana lists. Probably in a Kaplan Haris, to give you a solid multi-role team. Laxmee, Spitfire, Engineer (dealers choice on Blitzen or ADHL, I think I prefer the latter). Cheap Securitate/CSU core probably compliments this well.

This is why I said earlier that we would need to find a way to make it and that it would be an interesting challenge.
TAG missions are where it annoys me the most but that's also a point I've made previously.

The Iguana is something I hope I get proven wrong with when I explore FC more past the handful of games I've already played.

I can't believe I lived to see people badmouth the iguana.

It's cheap, carries its own repeater, and when it dies it pops out an operator that still counts as all its 71 points to contest zones. Sure, it is not a linebreaker, but that's why we have Krizas on the same army. It is however a nice flanker piece and a great bully to fight off lesser threats. I see no reason why not use it in some missions or lists.

Well, let me preface my post by saying 80 percent of the time the Kriza will be a better choice. Just by the nature of what TAGs are vulnerable to versus HI. But sometimes a mission or list combo calls for a TAG.
Foreign Company has a severe lack of rambo piece firepower. Our options are pretty much limited to the Kriza, the ORC and the Iguana. Of these three the Iguana is tied for the highest BS, has the fastest movement and mobility, has the greatest survivability (highest ARM + 4STR/W vs. 2W), the best hacking defense (6 BTS + repeater), hardest hitting gun, and the only one with a DTW.

His S7 can be both a blessing and a curse – a higher size means you can probably be seen by more, but also see more of the enemy when it's advantageous to you. It also means you can vault low buildings and boxes the Kriza and ORC would probably have to walk around. 6-4 mov means he's getting more out of each order which can be important in zone control missions.

It's a popular opinion that ARM = Nothing, but in reality, that just isn't all that true. I agree the difference between 5->6 isn't that big but 4->6 is nothing to scoff at. But you even said it yourself Wounds/Structure are king – which the Iguana doubles his Kriza and ORC friends. Becoming an easy to hide S2 HI that retains his points cost for scoring zones is pretty powerful in missions like Quadrant control.

The repeater is probably one of his biggest assets. He exists in a faction with Laxmee who is easily one of the most well rounded and deadliest hackers in the game. The Iguana extends her range considerably when we take 6-4 movement into account. His repeater can be used both offensively and defensively. It deters enemy hackers from getting close while also making him a walking hard counter to MSV ARO pieces with Laxmee's white noise.

He also hits the hardest because of FAT1. FA2 adding a second dice will outweigh this, but his HMG is more valuable than the ORC's because of this. He also brings Anti-Material fists in Looting and Sabotage in a sectorial with limited Anti-Material. (Though, Valk is probably your best choice in this mission). He's also the only one of the three that brings a DTW in the form of a heavy flamethrower, This discourages CC specialists and anyone else that wants to get close, the ORC has problems with this.

Overall – he really isn't all that bad of a choice – especially for only 71 points which is on the low end for a TAG. He's not as sturdy as something like the Marut or the Lizard but at the same time he's not performing the same 1 dimensional role as those pieces. You also don't give up as much when you inevitably lose him. The best TAGs in the game are the ones that are usually 1. have a low points cost (on a relative scale) 2. have some type of gimmick 3. doesn't overpay for stupid skills or stats. The Tikbalang, Sphinx, Squalo, I would consider these guys probably the best – nice lean profiles that gunfight really well. I would seriously consider this guy for a Limited Insertion list, TAG missions, or even something like Quadrant control.

You have a decent spread of weapon types and rangebands, a really great repeater network, and decent ARO. You have board presence that allows you to pressure the opponent, 4 troopers with visual mods to bully enemy ARO, and a mobile Haris and defensive core. The one hole is dealing with enemy markers, which Foreign Company kind of has an issue with all around.

If I were to expect a lot of markers across the table from me I would amend this way:

The link now can act as a defensive AND offensive 5 man link. I really like the Pathfinder in this army – it almost feels necessary. It combos well with Laxmee and is probably our best way to deal with camo. Theres probably a point to cut somewhere for the Warcor. The only downside is you give up some rangeland flexibility.

I understand how good this model looks on paper an the potential it has and in quad control missions it can be a real pain the ass to dislodge those 70 points, however in tag focused scenarios like deadly dance an opponent only has to do force 2 arm saves and you've now lost your scoring piece.
If he carried a shorter range weapon like a spitfire the value on the repeater would go up significantly, due to how vulnerable it is and the nature of the HMG it's normally better off running between fire lanes firing into the middle of the table from back in your DZ/FDZ. The built in repeater is a great defensive measure though when it is backed up by a KHD or two.
In theory the flame thrower is great at preventing it from get mobbed by a CC specialists, where this breaks down is that most CC specialists (Monks, Morlocks, Myrmidons, etc.) carry smoke allowing them make their way to the Iggy and crit it to death while hanging out in a cloud and not giving you a chance to burn them. Which is even more likely to happen if you are moving him into the midfield to take advantage of the repeater offensively. Though with access to zero minelayers and drop bears from the Bolts It would be less of an issue.

I like your lists though if possible turning one of the zeros into a KHD may help protect it and Laxme from enemy hackers.
I would be interested to read how they play out for you.

No you're not. You skip shit TAGs like the Guijia or Iguana and just take whatever you have that's good. Or you play a sectorial like ISS that literally doesn't have a TAG and just go about business as usual.

You don't need to run TAGs for the TAG missions. They still need to pull their own weight in these missions or they should be left at home.

Holy moly, where did all these polarized opinions come from! Get out of here and go complain on the YJ forums about invincible army please, and let us have a more nuanced discussion!

Yes, the Iguana has weaknesses but it also has uses as a good flanker in the right environment.

Here's my take that I'm going to give a try. I'm not totally sold on the Kaplan Haris and might want to keep Laxmee separate. The points saved on the Kaplans could buy a Daktari, upgrade a Securitate to HMG, add a Spitfire Akal and an extra order on top. 13 orders is too light for my preferred play style. However, linked mimetism snipers are fun!

I like the second list. What's the thought process behind the lone MSV sniper and the repeater zeroes versus KHD zeroes?

I find that MSV – especially in today's current meta is becoming more and more relevant and necessary. FC has really poor MSV options but you have to take what you can get – either that or a CC monster.

I find that Laxmee is a really capable hacker. She can hack fight with the best of them, adding a KHD zero certainly helps her a lot too, I just like to extend her range with the deployables, I also find emaulers more useful that antipersonel mines.

Firstly, the Iguana isn't that good of a gunfighter and the current age of the game tends to place MSV2 units in links now. Repeater and White Noise into a Kamau or Haidao? Good chance you just lost that face to face roll, vs the Kamau anyway it's 32-36% in the Kamau's favour.

Secondly the problem you run into is there's just so many better options and combinations to get repeaters and HMGs for the cost. A Kriza gets 42-29% instead when trying to use White Noise to assist in picking off a defensive linked Kamau.

It's very hard to argue the Iguana is worth the cost when Mr Krazy Borac can fetch an assortment of friends (including his line infantry) that already pack repeaters and work off them. He's easier to defend, you get more orders, doesn't suffer from getting his ass possessed, can hide in a variety of places and is a straight up better gun fighter than the Iguana.

If the Iguana was all you had sure maybe you could make some argument for him, but in the factions he exists in he gets out competed pretty badly by even just the HI options let alone the other TAGs, same as the Guijia which is why both TAGs are frequent shelf dwellers. Like I said earlier even in TAG missions the TAG needs to justifiably pull its weight in a fight and well the Iguana just doesn't cut the mustard when compared to the other options inhouse.
