Thanks for the report, I think I will give the Greif a try besides the Kriigel who was already set before.
I will play Tic Tac Toe against Pano tomorrow probably not vanilla Pano Tic Tac Toe ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 7 1 1 DRAAL Submachine Gun, Pulzar, D-Charges, Dazer / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0 | 30) GAO-RAEL Spitfire / Pistol, CCW. (1.5 | 33) MAKAUL Heavy Flamethrower, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, Viral CCW. (0 | 13) CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10) CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10) CLIPSOS Minelayer Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) GREIF-OP (CH: Mimetism, Forward Deployment L2) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (0 | 22) 4 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army The idea is to use the Clipsos and Greif to protect the Antennas and to use Gao Rael Spitfire together with Stratuscloud to take out aro pieces and draal to hack antennas. and in the other group to use Sukeul FO to hack the antennas. Tohaa Diplomat simply to use command tokens if I need additional orders I am not sure if I shouldn't change the Greif to the one with inferior IMP to be able to start close to enemy DZ to wreak some havoc there Another option is this List: Tic Tac Toe ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 7 1 DRAAL Submachine Gun, Pulzar, D-Charges, Dazer / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21) 3.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army similiar to the first but it has the gao rael sniper as an aro piece and looses the greif
IMO you have to few specialist. If you lose your Sukeul you have only the Kaeltar/DD left. These mission prefers the second turn and you have no good ARO coverage against rambo units
Thank you Ben so the second list would be a better choice? Or taking Clipsos FOs in the first list? The game is a bit less about winning and more about trying out the Draal and Kriigel and maybe the Greif
would give the second list a try. But if you want to run the first list, take at least one FO Clipsos
I don't think you have the order counts in either group to play this mission efficiently. If you go first, a strategic command token reduces your groups to 7 and 5 orders -- and if you deploy the clipsos as markers (to give orders to the draal) that's an easy pick since they'll be in the midfield. I prefer the second list altogether, but you should reorganize the combat groups to 10 and 4 with one clipso in each group.
Can anyone explain me the idea behind the grief operators? I rate this unit as 120% trash, but maybe I'm just missing something?
The greif is one of the best new units. MSV1 that can deploy anythere on the table for 21 points. Absolute beast at killing camos and even simply putting him in suppressive fire at a good position can really annoy the enemy. Played one game with him he killed one or two fussiliers and cost the enemy 2 orders to kill him, was totally worth it in my opinion
But what actual take he can solve? He is not specialist, he has no good offensive weapons. Clipsos makes the same taket, but he is more effective for the same cost
Clipsos doesn't have msv and can't be placed in the enemy DZ and need a roll for enemy table half. A combi rifle is good enough to kill line troopers and similiar stuff. He is not overpowered but I was able to stall a swiss guard for a few orders. Greif is not super powerful but gives us a few possibilities. If you prefer to use the clipsos do that I like being able to just place a unit on the enemy half of the table
Yep, the Greif is a totally new capability for us. I've had success with both the inferior impersonators by deploying them to fire back into the midfield. Terrain won't always permit it, but I've had a couple absolutely savage mousetraps with them already where the enemy couldn't advance to engage my snipers without leaving their backs exposed to the Greif or Kiuutan.
I think the impersonation one has legs. In missions with exclusion Zones or points scored being able to just lob it wherever you like is pretty strong, and at 21 points it's not crippling to use it as a fancy cheerleader. The camo one really makes me a sad panda though, compare it to a Zulu cobra and the price seems nuts.
To understand the Greif you want to conceptualize where strengths and weaknesses are and then categorize potential uses. Weaknesses Basic Statline Non-Repeatable marker state Strengths MSV levels the playing field against any Camo/Mimetism. Mimetism is generally effective against other camo troopers and line infantry. Inferior Impersonation is positional advantage over Infiltration. Relatively low cost How do we want to use the Greif? The Mimetism/FD2 profiles are looking to skirmish in the midfield and fight other light camo troops. Where the combination of Mimetism/MSV 1 will push it out ahead of its competitors. The Inferior Infiltration one is a more interesting beast. The goal here is to try and put yourself in close. Ideally where he can make an attack run on vulnerable cheer leaders or long range ARO pieces. Units like TR Bots, Snipers and the like.
1. The Mimetism/FD2 profiles are looking to skirmish in the midfield With what tools he is going to do that? BS11 and SMG. The first bolt with boarding shotgun will just shoot him down. He probably have slightly better capabilities of discovering can markets, but move 4-4 means he will never be there in time. He is not minelayer, not specialist. He cannot push buttons, cannot deny the advancement of the enemy. For the same amount of Points we have clipsos. Same start, but TO. Same usage potential + specialist. Grief looses comparison with clipsos even in suppressive fire state. Clipsos can ship with combi, mines, sniper rifle. Grief ship with SMG and AP Marksman rifle. Please do not forget you can have the second turn. In this case this unit just die for nothing, since it is bs11 1 shoot on aro and no marker state for self protection. You can compare grief to igao (never seen him in the field) and igao still better for the very same reasons as clipsos, but -specialist +camo +cc potential. This one actually can go somewhere and kill things. And he have nanopulser. 2. The Inferior Infiltration one is a more interesting beast. The goal here is to try and put yourself in close. Ideally where he can make an attack run on vulnerable cheer leaders or long range ARO pieces. Units like TR Bots, Snipers and the like. So, for 1 SWC and 21 point you get combi rifle. You cannot fight with 5 man link. You cannot outshoot trbot (you do not have mimetism and you do have same stats), your marker state is one use only. Your only viable targets are loners. But not all of them. Loner with boarding shotgun will have good chances shooting you on aro. And you are still not specialist, not marker.
So yeah Mimetism/FD2 is a bad option I agree with that. I actually fielded the Igao in quite a few games and he was often worth it, Clipsos is mostly a better option but Igao isn't bad. Inferior Infiltration was pretty cool so far, its a bit a matter of the type of mission. You won't take out aro pieces or at least have a hard time doing that but against Camo and TO Units he can be pretty good if you put him in suppressive fire, he can also go and discover camos pretty well. Or he tried to find a gap in the enemy aro units to get into the DZ to kill the cheerleaders.
For noting, it's on the weak side of synergy but if you do deploy the FD2 version, chuck it next to the draal to be in a stratuscloud. Yes, I'm obsessed with stratusclouds.
The cloud seems to give a little life to stuff like the Kauri sniper, I'm looking to combo it with a Nikoul to make a cut price Le Muet.
Whut? It comes with Combi, not SMG, so better range than a Shotgun and good chances to Discover+Shoot any Camo Marker midfield without the risk of a deadly Shotgun ARO or a Mine exploding in the face. For 22 points, that's not bad.
