So, what do you think of Nahab? For me it's everything I've ever wanted in a singular package for a reasonable price. I'm especially fond of KHD+SMG loadouts, as it en chances his already wonderful CC potential, but BSG Specialist loadouts is also nice. Looking forward to dropping him behind enemy lines and going cutthroat Mode..
I'm really digging the Nahab, since I've been wanting an additional AD troop in Haqqislam. The KHD profile is looking great. That cybermask is going to put in a lot of work for both CC shenanigans AND grabbing objectives. The specialist profile looks fun too for D-charge punching TAGS on a 22. Being able to pick between infiltrate or airborne infiltration gives you a lot of flexibility as well depending on the mission and how your opponent deploys. Either grab some objectives from the midfield right away or wait for a later turn to walk in and strike when your opponent expects it the least.
This is true! On the other hand, you will be able to survive that hit thanks to NWI and you have an expensive TAG tied up as not many TAGs have shock, DA or EXP CCW. It's a bit of a gamble, but it might be a nice trade to make.
Not that bad though. You're likely to win the ftf and even if you fail you'll take a single wound at worst. More significant to me is looting and sabotage. NBW with D-Charges on an infiltrating guy that can ignore one ARO from most guys? Yes please!
One day you'll regret these words, when something would land just outside your ZoC and shoot your troops in the back with a Spitfire. And when you turn around, another one would drop behind your back to continue the onslaught with her BSG. Hehe.. One day I'll combine the use of these two units.
Ragiks are still useful in HB. Vanilla, who knows. They are cheaper overall and come with combat jump, which got some nice buffs this season. Ragiks also don't have fury, but then again I don't expect my Ragiks to survive longer than one turn when they're rampaging around. But yeah, the extra survivability granted by NWI paired with good CC capabilities does make the Nahab a way more attractive choice.
The fury has me concerned. NWI is huge, but I feel that fury, combined with a lack of any CH or shock immunity, makes the Nahab significantly worse than it looks. What do you think? Can it be easily mitigated? How do you see yourself using the Nahab?
The only drawback to frenzy is that the model loses access to cover bonuses on the turn after it inflicts a wound. Since they become regular impetuous instead of extreme, they're not required to use their impetuous order during the impetuous phase. If using it would needlessly endanger them, then you don't have to. So best case scenario, they all end up getting a free order in each round they don't have cover bonuses. And really, since you shouldn't be leaving them out to aro in most situations anyway, their burst will help to carry them through the active turn in situations where they don't benefit from cover. Worst case scenario, if you need to use one defensively, you can still put it in suppression and get a -3 to be hit from that.
My go to strategy will likely be infiltrate 2 of them and first turn coordinated order cybermask. Then use them as deterrent units in the midfield.
The real utility of the Nahab comes into play when you consider its versatility. Ragik has to jump, or deploy normally. Our Infiltrators have to infil or deploy normally. Nahab can choose based on METT-TC (mission, enemy, terrain, time, troops available and classifieds). Going first? Infiltrate, cybermask, and wreck face or punch buttons. Going second? Hold it off the table, shoot an opening and drop it in from the air.
I used a Nahab yesterday and it was awesome. Dropped in, masked, moved up, assaulted a Kamau and shot up a Bolt. When my opponent counter-dropped a crusader he took a wound and dropped into total cover, then next turn ran out and SMG'd him good. MVP for sure.
I think I'm becoming convinced the KHD Nahab is the way to go. At first I was thinking D-charges and shotgun made her a better close-up specialist, but Surprise Shot with SMG sounds too brutal to pass up.
I think all three profiles are excellent tbh. The Boarding Shotgun will absolutely do work if you ask it to.
I have run single and triple Nahab Lists. The triple Nahab list was brutal for my opponent. Taking first turn I infiltrated the Nahab Red fury, and has that as my alpha striker. first turn after ruining one flank, I brought in the Boarding shotgun and ruined the other flank. then when the BSG went down I brought in the third on my 2nd turn and ruined a Sforza Haris from behind. I absolutely love the Nahab. I still flip flop between the KHD and the Red Fury.
I hadn't considered the Red Fury option much, being a non-specialist and costlier, but I also hadn't considered taking multiple Nahabs.
