Can you coordinate an order to make 4 troopers use the short skill: Mines? It isn't the same 'target', but is this skill targeted like throwing a smoke?
Yes, but only if they're all the same type. Each deployable has it's own skill, so you can coordinate up to 4 AP Mines, or 4 Dazers for example, but not 2 AP Mines, a Viral Mine, and a deployable repeater.
Mines do not have a target, so you can coordinate all your 4 Zhencha to drop mines at vastly different locations.
Last year at Interplanetario it was ruled that you could not coordinate mines, I suppose as you needed to target different places. I agree that RAW does not forbid coordinating mines, but the fact that Smoke has to target the exact same point certainly suggests it.
Last year's IP caused an uproar for getting a few rules wrong. Smoke is a BS Attack and as such requires a target, just like all BS Attacks. "Targetless" doesn't mean it's targetless, it means you don't need to select an enemy as target. There is very little conclusion to be drawn from that comparison.
Ok. I didn't hear about any uproar in my local meta. I agree that RAW you can coordinate mines. I also think it's entirely reasonable that CB had intended that you couldn't coordinate mines, as that would line up with every other coordination ability requiring the same target (smoke, shooting, CC, pressing buttons, Doctor, Eng). I hope they clarify their position at some point. Personally I usually run lots of units with mines, and would love to be able to coordinate them. At big tournaments I'll just ask the TO beforehand, so everyone's on the same page.
IIRC there was an "official clarification" in the last forum. Unfortunately, that's gone the way of the dodo. FWIW, it was the same position as given above. Namely, you can coordinate the same type of mines - but not different ones - and they don't need to be dropped in the same place at all (as that would be disallowed anyway).
Oh, I don't mean universal meta-spanning international uproar, I mean a small storm in a regular sized tea cup here on the forums, because apparently it's a breach of EU regulations to get the rules wrong as a TO of a large tournament.
I'd bet it was more because CB's people were close by than the "large tournament" part... I mean, Interruptor, Hellois and others were around XD
Yeah, I mean, it's the main tournament and it's a bit surprising that CB isn't in any way hands-on on it, but once it was clear it wasn't CB calling the shots the upset should've ended, but people kept both being upset about it and kept trying to take the shots called during it as CB sanctioned (which they weren't anymore than during Furor Tectonis nor Nordic Masters)
