TO Camo + Frenzy would solve it without having to create any new rules. And it would be downgraded to mimetism after the first ARM that it forces. AD - Inferior Combat Jump + Camo would not work. That first movement to deploy is not a *move*, so it would cancel the camouflaged state - just as it does not benefit from stealth.
Just because it's shasvastii, doesn't mean it has to have camo. AD itself is sneaky. I'm really excited for them though. I did vanilla with heavy (as in mostly) Shas and Pretas and loved them!
The thing is: TO Camo+infiltration (or even superior infiltration) looks more like a burrower than AD does. If Taigha are something like antipodes, so large models with TO camo, frenzy, infiltration and a warband statline, they will be great and useful both for Shas and Vanilla.
So with the new rules article that came out today, what does everyone think the possibility of us seeing Total Immunity with vulnerabilities (or just TI in general) in the army? They seem to be giving out a lot of Immunity, and this fits nicely with Shas being masters of Bio-engineering. Additionally, the article mentioned Morpho-scan and Seed-Embryo in a separate section titles "updated to n3", but it gave no clarification of what this means. It sounds like it just means they will officially be a part of an n3 document with no rules change, which is a disappointing thought to me.
Ya I never really thought morpho-scan was that great at all. Pure luck and sometimes not worth it because you had to spend an order to do it. I mainly used the Protheon if possible. Hopefully you can still do it.
I don't think so. IMHO these two rules will be rewritten to work within N3 frame. I expect for example that hatching will be defined skill with all needed labels and so. I also expect that Morpho-scan will lose ability to steal weapons from scanned enemies. What do you think about Dazer? I think it will be situational tool to slow down some enemies, but it is nothing to use regularly (Nox nimbus plus light granade launcher is better IMHO).
I’m iffy on the Dazer rules. It’s nothing like what I expect, so that exciting at least. My only problem is I feel it’s very dependent on the board. When I play at home we use a lot of terrain, and if I can throw one down in a good alley or on an objective that’s great. And possibly bad for me. The tournaments I play in are more sparing with terrain, so I feel I’ll have to strain myself a little more to use it. Edit: Dazer is a deployable weapon, not a grenade. So it does have a slight edge going down for free over the nimbus grenades being fired on 17s in a full link and ideal range, but burst 2 covers that well It did make me re-read the very difficult terrain rules, so now I know that if you’re moving through it you cannot declare two movement skills in one order. Which is fun.
Total Immunity with Vulnerabilities seems like it’s written for the Tohaa, to keep Artichoke roasts in the game. :) Total Immunity plus Vulnerability(X) really just feels like they didn’t think to just have Immunity(W,Y,Z).
I'm uncertain if Frenzy would provide a big enough discount to these troops to allow them to be both good and cheap, but we'll know soon i suppose.
I’m definitely betting dog-warriors will have vulnerability: viral. I think it’s a pretty clean way to tidy up what is honestly a fairly niche rule.
I just never want to have to find the Special Ammunitin Chart again to figure out what Immunity:Total covers. And if they change every reference so that it’s consistent whether it’s called “Immunity:Total” or “Total Immunity” that’s a bonus.
Certainly makes it a lot less of a pain to remember and explain the rule. Plus as a personal thing I always had trouble navigating to the immunity chart on the wiki for some reason, so win-win
I don't think they will burrow at all. I think it will be inferior infiltration and some type of camo.
I can't remember but it's just a speculation. Nothing is confirmed at all and could be TOTALLY different. Based on what we think that would work well with Shasvastii as well as fluff. Also the fact they are AVA 8 and the location on the force chart, they are a warband of some sort.
I know it has been mentioned, but beyond Victor, Aida is also a speculo agent, as per third offensive Speculo Agents are not the front line impersonators but more subtle and undercover, Victor and Aida been more of an exception.
I think you need to think of Speculo Killers as purely military impersonators who don't need to use impersonation for long periods of time. Just enough to kill a target. However Agents are much more subtle as you said. They are behind enemy lines with little to no equipment except what they can take.
I think the distinction is more along the lines of: Speculo Killers are assassins. They assume identities only long enough to get their kill. The identities they assume don't need to be anything more than a low(ish) ranking troop to be plausibly in the area. Speculo Agents are agitators and covert manipulators. They assume an identities for prolonged periods of time. The identities they assume are generally in positions of power and influence so they can leverage it. That said, I'm still getting through all of the fluff as I just borrowed Uprising and 3rd Offensive a week or so ago.
I was simply speculating based off of very incomplete information. I think it would have been an interesting unit to see, but I’m not too upset that I was wrong.
