At least for me, I don't think it is that they need more stuff (bloat) as much as their role and fluff don't match as well as they could, and the QK field for mid-20 pt troops is pretty dense. I like them but we'll see what CB does - they are N2 small scale, so maybe they'll return in some years.
Algaciles do Order Monkey and Hacker trick basically as well as Ghilim do, yet they do it cheaper. yes, Ghilim hacekr has extra WIP, but if you need a hacker to permit REMs in the list (and to boost said REM), an Alguacile is absolutely good enough. Also, a lone HI - usually with a HMG - is better off with a Cube and Courage rather than No Cube & Relgious. Makes the Brigada a bit more survivable than a Janissary. In my experience, this is an advantage. The MultiRifle Brigada brings an unique weapon, which we don't usually find in QK otherwise. And that hasn't changed since I was writing the QK Tactical Guide back in 2ed. We are yet to see what the Daedalus' Fall will change about these!
CB's refusal to resculpt odalisques is my personal disappointment of the year, as far as my thoughts on model range go.
Agreed. The spitfire is gorgeous. WOuld have been nice to have the SWC box reflect that quality instead of having the strange alien faces. Oh well. I doubt I presently want more than just the spitfire odalisque anyway.
Well, perhaps one could buy Deva from Dakinis box to use as a proxy (after some filing maybe, although I think odalisques also use advanced lhosts or equivalents, seeing their profiles). Sure, that's also a spitfire model, but it's different from Haqq spitfires, as such you can claim it's a customized contender (should be a common thing, what's with the nature of contenders) or some BSG from some backwater manufacturer. That is, if you don't have bits to replace it.
Strictly speaking, I cannot know their plans, and a few years later CB will have to update anyways, probably. But seeing how the only released new Odalisque is the one that can be found in cancelled QK starter, and that Oda box wasn't cancelled, I think it's not exactly a stretch to suppose CB intends to produce old Oda box for a while longer.
Oh, they certainly do, with Odalisques being present in QK, Dahat Company and vanilla Haqq (also, making for the CSU in my StarCo for the time bieng, that is, until I can get my hands on proper CSU). Also, they have a whole lot of other things to release, especially for Haqq - Ramah being the most likely subject of Haqq releases for the following months. Redoing Odalisques would simply add to that. Therefore, I guess, some other time!
Djanbazan Haris with SMR is nice, and probably good buddies with what I predict will be the ubiquitous Ghulam NCO.

So now that Yuans aren't our only source of smoke I'm kinda tempted to do something monstrously stupid like Firefight with ghulam core, djan haris, an extra combat group with maxed fanous, yuans and EVO. Add some of the following: Rafiq, hawwa, bashi, warcor, whatever. On reactive pop up overcloack and pray. On active drop yuans on 17, toss some smoke and try to kill stuff with whatever can reach it. Raw one-dimensional idea, but w/e.
What about our beautiful Spitfire Odalisque wildcard? Gotta find a way to implement her somehow. Between them, hafzas and Leila you can actually make a Djan core with just a single Djan. Considering odas aren't exactly expensive if you want them that way, it's pretty interesting setup.
I see SMG Odalisques being excellent defensive additon to many of our Fireteams: 22/0 pts, AP & Shock SMG, DA Contender, Nanopulser, i-Kohl L3, and NWI? They are going to live up to their reputation of perfect bodyguards! Good for them, but Hafzas surely feel diminished now.
i think i should share with you my opinion about "what else could be done in QK update", which i sent to CB in one of warcor treads. but after that i saw many different thoughts (from @Durian Khaar for example) on the forum. so i want to ask - what you think about it, what else can be changed but for now it not? I must admit what i LIKE the update itself - it for sure make QK better! just want discuss possibilities & opportunities for a future (i understand QK now for long not get an update, but i just wait, as i waited all the years this one update)
As I have mentioned, I wonder why Azrails were changed in the way it's done. If they were given V:Courage, or Duo or allowed to join Janissaries fireteam (they did serve as Janissaries backwise after all) – any option would have more sense than the current solution. IMO :)
