Taagma Schemers

The spec-ops changes are something I'm very much looking forwards to (partialy because I strongly dislike that druze get the Haqq loadouts so they have more Viral than us :) ).

She seems solid, counter-intelligence is nice even if I think it's becoming far too common.

 

With the relatively high point costs (for Tohaa) of the profiles shown so far, a 10 order list is perhaps more likely than with Vanilla Tohaa. and therefore the skill is of course all the more useful.

But do you also think that this is the weakest sculpt?

 

Isn't Counter Intel worse at 1 order group since you're immune to the strategic Command token use anyway?

 

Counter Intel is pointless in a 10 order list under the ITS rules for the past few seasons, but it makes a lot of Tohaa lists extra powerful. Also having a BS 12 breaker rifle is not too bad of an option if it needs to do some gun fighting on its own. Disguising it as a Chaksa is kind of fun too.

 

She's the one that looks like she's in a lab coat with the crazy hair right? In which case I agree she's the weakest sculpt. She's not bad though, it's mainly the hair I don't like.

 

this is the one unit from spiral that i will prolly be using in my 20 order lists. counterintel on such a cheap troop? hell yeah! and it can pretend to be something else like a random chaksa hmg that i "poorly" position? just nice

 

As said, interesting new options, but bad sculpt.
I'm already thinking about crazy lists involving Taagma, Kotail, Kiuutan, Igao, Clipsos, Libertos...

 

Shame about the sculpt too because the dossier looked lovely.

 

Oh, she has an MSV2 Viral Sniper option!

after looking at the vid, i'd say both options for vanilla tohaa seem solid.

 

She's significantly more fragile, but hiding as another trooper opens up a whole can of worms!

 

The sculpt is derpy indeed, but you can just use the Limited Hatail instead (which looks awesome)

 

WHD is still overpriced hot garbage.

From what Bostria says it seems that Tri-Core only gives the core bonuses for the troop having the skill. Putting that on a breaker combi is not exactly an AP HMG Vet Kazak.

 

This seems to synergize good with the Kriigel for some little Smoke+MSV+Viral Sniper beatings :)
Still a little bit sad the Kriigel Light Smoke Grenade option and the Taagma MSV2+Viral Sniper option are both unavailable in vanilla

 

From the design notes article on CBs website, it seems more likely that it gives the bonus to the entire Triad, and Carlos misspoke in the video.

 

Agreed - so it's confusing. One interesting possibility is sure, you only get the +3 and SSL2 on your schemer, but you have three Tri-Core schemers in 3 different triads. And you can take a brawler core with the possibility that something wildcards them up to five. Does that sound like it works, as we understand things right now? I mean, yeah, breaker combis aren't insane, but having 8 models on the table getting five-man bonuses at one time sure would be. If @nehemiah is right, wouldn't it be possible to have 14??

 

It could still be limited to one "core", even by just saying the triad counts as a full Core if it has that piece of equipment, which I expect it surely would if all members from the fire team do benefit from it.

 

I hope so. Everyone's running around with BS13 Mimetic cores, so we need that bonus somewhere.
