The Kriigel Agents bring something that Tohaa players have been asking for. Pheroware that isn't attached to a Symbiobomb. I personally love Mirrorball. Though I do have a history of being attacked by Nisse and Yaogats. The Kriigel also add a Light Smoke Grenade Launcher that can be in a link. More regular smoke for Tohaa (unless that is a Spiral Corps only profile).
You nailed it, Smoke Grenade Launcher, pheroware without bombs, reasonable priced and a sweet mini. Almost couldn´t be better. He and his critters combined are almost too evil. He will be the bane to all aro Units. Sniper with MSV -> mirrorball Rocketlauncher without MSV -> Smoke and critter with marksmanrifle (which seems to have MSV). Edit: No MSV on the critter with MMR but K1 with is also awesome. Really cool.
Even if this is the case, an Eraser and Mirror Ball unit is fantastic for Vanilla Tohaa. Keep this guy around the Sukeul Missile Launcher and take out all those pesky MSV units. Keep him in a link with an Ectross or Neema, and make sure those hackers have a rough time getting off more than one hack attempt.
They bring a l ot of utility, I like them. Another source of smoke is something my Gao-Rael will appreciate a lot, and Mirrorball (several uses, not just one dice roll that might fail) will be god-send for my Sukeul. And he's even linkable, so a Kriigel smoke GL / Gao-Rael Spitfire / Sukeul HMG can go around the table annihilating everything.
repeatable mirrorball is definitely a fun gimmick. we didnt really have that before (you could mirrorball 4x a game previously, but that would mean no symbiomates, which is just not a great way to play). this troop seems like it could be good, it has a lot going for it.
I could imagine it boosting your WIP when using pheroware. On the other hand, it's a 1-wound-trooper for 24-31, which is quiet a lot for Tohaa standards.
A little bit sad the Light Smoke Grenade Launcher option is Spiral Corps only. I like to have the possibility for more variation in my lists, but for vanilla this only has two loadouts :( Still extremely interesting profile especially with the Mirrorball Pheroware :)
I was thinking it could be deployable equipment that Pheroware could be used through. That could be really mean.
I was so ready to fall in love with this guy, mostly because I despise the Kerail as one of the worst Smoke throwers in the game (he brings other things but sometimes you need that Smoke!) but I can see how it'd be a bit much. I think the 24pt profile is the only one that will be useful for Tohaa, LGL is decent but he's not a good gunfighter, same for the Breaker Combi. Probably just going to use him for the Pheroware things which are very powerful, we have the best Jammers by far now. I'd be happy if the Booster was just a Repeater, that would be crushing with both his abilities.
this guy should form a special triad with reex. my bet on phero booster: some kind of ability that boost reex stats.
I honestly would have said the Kerail is the better smoke/msv combo partner. Eraser and Mirroball seem like the bigger effects to me. Having a great answer for Suppressive fire HI, Long range MSV and Beefy Core Links is so very nice.
