Not sure what they wanted to get rid of, considering they took a QK feature (others only had count as like Moira Kusanagi count as Moira. QK was the only one with true mixed link) and gave it to about everyone else. First giving mixed link. Then they invented Wildcard keyword and gave that to several other unit. Now that the Wildcard keyword exist, it would be logical to apply it to hafza, it was what they were anyway (and still are). Only need a note, like in N2, that they only link with QK link, and a FAQ about what is and isn't a QK link. and a revised answer... and why not just give them simply wildcard with no restriction ? Some of other armies' wildcard both a- don't correspond to how they linked in N2 and b- don't always make sense. So having a hafza true wildcard that a- can link with mercs unlike in N2 and b- don't make sense linking with Algs would be fine.
I'm pretty sure the HSN3 change resulted from these forums. Where nearly every single thread discussing much of anything QK revolved around using Hafza to create a fire team around the one model apparently cared about. Whichever the favorite one of the thread was. This at a time when teams were composed of a single unit and it's profiles and that being a "thing". But now that mixed and/or special compositions put that to rest in a ditch. From a thematic perspective, mercenaries are exactly where I would want a Hafza to be. To keep an eye out and provide control Not that they were ever issued skills to do such things. ;)
They are fine, yes but just fine, they are bland. they will always get overlooked for Druze, Kaplan or Djanbazan in their current state as each of those can do what the Sekan do but usually better for very little difference in points: Druze are a better defensive team, Kaplan are a better toolbox and Djanbazan are a better offensive team. I love the models and just give the sekban a reason to be picked.
So now that we've all seen the video, anyone else surprised at how few QK were on the chopping block? I wonder if that's because so many NA2 units use QK stuff. Also maybe a sign that stuff like the Odalisques will be in Dashat Company?
I am just wondering why Azrails have to go. Awesome models and very new. The HMG one was good proxy of a Fasid for those who didnt want to buy red Veil. Janissarys made it, because they are in RTF now. Odas surprised me too...those models should hit the block by the looks of them. But I guess a new one is already on its way...that would at least make sense.
Azrails: Bought them early painted them early, played one of them in mostly 4 of 70+ games. Love the models would buy again
At least for the HMG version, the Fasid model is as close as can be, and will be available to do double duty in QK and RTF. It is especially weird given they have a new linking option with Shaytinayah, which is a strange choice; I'm not sure what situation it is supposed to appeal to.
Ghulam Core with Odalisque SF and a KTS Haris is a dream come true for me. Can't wait for the army update
it means that either I will field one Sekban with two hafzas or shelve Sekbans allright. Cause KTS has haris now.
Well, the advantage of a Duo is allowing you to activate two models with a single Order. Allowing an active model to haul a buddy behind them - in most cases, either a combatant bringing up a specialis, as they advance upfield, or a combatant bringing up a backup combatant to use once the primary one bites a bullet. Duo Linking a (Smart?) Missile Launcher REM with a slow, big HI equipped for long-range combat is an option that makes completely no sense. However, we know CB don't tend to make up such nonsensical options. Meaning, it has to make a sense. Even a very situational kind of sense. Conclusion: we don't know everything yet. We don't know even nearly enough. @Bostria threw us a bait there. Mind you - not a decoy. Not an empty promise - there's something to it. But a bait, meant to provoke us into loosing our calm. O, nothing of that kind, @Bostria effendi. Nothing like that.
You propably can make a DUO of AzRa'il and one of our new wildcards - and maybe it won't be too stupid to move Azzie with Oda or Hafza or Leila? :) I'm happy with the new Wildcard options - some Odalisque can be a interesting addition to Djan link, and she makes them cheaper. The same with Leila. Nice stuff. Yet I'm a bit dissapointed that our big fat bad veterans still don't look and don't work as IMHO intended - Azzies could get some update, at least V:Courage (it's weird when such biggie falls to the ground after bouncing small ammo hit...). I thought about some Tactical Awareness or something similar. Maybe Fassies will get this in Ramah, will see. It's weird that such beasts like Yan Huo, who are better than AzRa'ils, can link and form a Haris, and our guys can't... Still I'm waiting for the all rules and new stuff. Maybe we'll see something more. PozdRawiam / Greetings
Really? Do you find odd that an army based in tactics with heavy infantry, where their regiments are specifically trained to interact perfectly between them; in a faction that game wise was designed with the idea of having the expertise in HI units ( Haqqislam expertise is LI units ); was allowed to form a Haris with their S5 walking artillery weapons? Biggest error designers did was promoting the use of HI units with HS:N3. Now everybody feels entitled to have amazing link teams of HI.
Well, I don't really see much point in moving Azra'il at all. I mean, adjust position within 1 Short Move, well, maybe 2, then blast away. Having an Odalisque being dragged along...? Can't really see the appeal. Bus, as I mentioned above, we don't know everthing yet.
Fireteam Duo: Azra'il & Hafza Lieutenant (perhaps disguised as a Odalisque) - that is some big Bodyguard for a squishy LI...
I'll probably repeat myself, but the only thing QK still can't do after the announcement is to go all-out cheap and combine Ghulam Core with linked Djanbazan*. Frankly, I'd use that build since QK is also one of those armies that can use EVO efficiently enough (what's with having AVA 3 Fanous and dropping Yuans on 14/17 in some missions being a plan that isn't exactly terrible), and having a LGL in a core could be situationally useful - for example, because some tables don't leave us with many options to contest Super-jumping fireteams, and things like Hollows aren't exactly unpopular or resistant to speculative fire. * - edit: I meant Djan Haris, as in, a link option for Djans while having cheap core. Oh well.
Exactly. A good bodyguard team should have a leader, a couple basic bullet-sponges, a sharpshooter, an information-warfare specialist, a driver, a demolitions expert, and a couple 'escape&evasion' specialists. Some of those jobs may overlap. I'd go so far as to say full-on Doctor. Demolitions/breaching I would agree with, but Damage Control is questionable, depends on your assumed model for the space fleet. Submariners train everyone in DC (even the cooks and clerks), but the Surface Fleet only trains in basic firefighting. Marines don't even get that, as far as I know, just get taught to get the hell out of the way of the people who do know what they're doing. SEALs (or Marine Recon) getting a ride to work on a submarine don't get the DC training, either.
In before full auto Azra'il and tac sense Jann HMG. Personally I was hoping they'd do away with the corrigador units because of how redundant they are with the other LI or HI options, but Hafza with wildcard should make them less absolutely inferior options.
