    I've got a question!

The spawn-embryo state says that models don't count as eliminated by the enemy during the game. Does that mean spawn-embro markers aren't 'killed' while annihilation type missions are scored?

I understand after the game is over spawn-embryos aren't counted as alive for tie breaker scoring (Victory Points), but I read that as them being counted as not killed during the mission for annihilation missions, so you would get more OBJ points overall.

    How is this rule played?

Just be aware any answer could be completely irrelevant by the end of the month!

Right now Spawn-Embryo is a Null state and:

    KILLING:
A trooper is considered Killed when he enters Dead state, or is in a Null state at the end of the game. Troopers that have not been deployed on the game table at the end of the game will be considered to be Killed by the adversary

I just want to speculate. New Nox look fantastic. I'm guessing that it's going to be similar considering they still have the rule on the previewed profiles and bio-immunity which has synergies with the rule as is.

My only question is why include this line then? The situation is non-nonsensical ignoring annihilation type missions because otherwise you never count the pts cost of eliminated troopers.

    - During the game, troopers in the Spawn-Embryo state do not count as casualties for the purposes of determining the total point cost of surviving troopers. Similarly, the opposing army cannot count them as casualties when determining the point cost of eliminated troopers.

The first part stops you going into retreat, the second potentially has an effect if there was a scenario that counted points killed at the end of a round.

The Shasvaasti rules are currently a hangover from second edition and were never fully updated, which is why I advised above not to think too hard about them until the end of the month when the new rules are released :)

This line means that during the game, they count as alive, meaning you are not likely to be in Retreat.
But after the game, they count same as Unconscious, not giving VP.
Also the Remember says it is not just a question of counting as Unc, it is actually a type of Unc and we know how Unc work for Killing in those scenario.

edit: Also in mission like Quadrant Control, they count as not being dead during the game (when counting surviving trooper cost for dominating quadrants every rounds). So that second line covers it, even thought the ITS also explicitly covers it to make sure no players has any question about spawn and baggage.

So the mission or scenario text seems to suggest there's an 'end of mission' step where objective points are calculated before the end of the game:

Missions pose an additional challenge to players, who must prioritize between eliminating the enemy and pursuing the objectives. Each scenario or mission must specify the objectives players will strive to complete. During the mission, achieving objectives nets players Objective Points, at a rate determined beforehand by the mission rules. Missions and scenarios can also have their own Victory Conditions, specified in the End of Mission section of their rules. These may include, for example, an objective or objectives that must be accomplished to achieve victory. The player who fulfills all Victory Conditions of the scenario wins the game. If no specific Victory Conditions are stipulated, victory goes to the player with the most Objective Points at the end of the game. The amount of Victory Points each player has is always used to Break Ties if both players earn the same amount of Objective Points in a scenario.

If OBJ points are calculated before the end of the game then Embryo State was probably intended to supersede the way the 'killing' rule was written, especially because Embryo-State specifically mentions victory points and seems to refer to killing via 'eliminated troops'.

But yeah it will probably be cleared up when they release shasvastii. So lol.
