Tohaa just got what looked like a punch in the face while being handed a box of delicious new profiles. But are the Tohaa really getting shafted? What if the SKUs that are getting cancelled are freeing up space for new Tohaa resculpts? The Sukeuls could be just repacked into one blister and everything else could be refreshed as resculpts. I could see this being the case. The Gao-Tarsos really could use a tweak to make it easier to put together. Maybe the first of the resculpts are coming at GenCon in a two player box vs the Shasvastii? That would be amazing and bring new life to our little faction. This is supposed to be the year of Tohaa (again). Lets see what happens because we might get more surprises before the year is over.
I'd say the new box is also a pretty sweet deal over all. It looks like what 5-6 new profiles and a bunch of nice new sculpts. Looks awesome to me :)
We haven't see everything yet, but based on what we have seen of these Spiral Corps units, Tohaa have a lot to be excited about.
I could definitely see Tohaa in a 2 player starter at GenCon. A 2 player starter was mentioned for GenCon this year (I can't remember where but I'm pretty positive), and Tohaa and CA are the last 2 left to be included in one (not counting NA2). It would make sense to replace the starter as it's one of the last hand sculpted ones I believe.
I don't understand any of the panic around discontinued SKUs (in this or the previous instances). The models will either come back as a repack or get re-sculpted in the future. This is about SKU management and nothing else. The profiles are there, you have the models already or if you don't you have plenty of time to get them. Tohaa is alive and well and just got an infusion of a TON of new models and profiles. Nothing but good things to take away from everything that's been announced. Plenty to be excited about if you're a Tohaa player. Don't count on a Tohaa / Shas box at GenCon though. That wouldn't make any sense at all from CB's perspective.
I agree. Part of why people get so upset about these sorts of updates is they expect too much. I suspect we're more likely to see a few more solo blisters to help fill out the spiral corp box. (Maybe even a new unit or two that aren't otherwise sculpted if other Army releases have shown us anything?)
You (Tohaa players) guess are somehow fortunate because "old" sculps are fairly consistent with new ones. But for other factions, that SKU movement will be welcome if they decide to retire the old tiny sculpts until they will be resculpted or either just proxied. Definitely, a 2-player box resculpting these profiles would be a major fix for the faction and true love for them after such hard times for Tohaa...
For someone like myself who has all the Tohaa things this is all nothing but good. More Tohaa for me with new and interesting profiles. Tohaa players in general are worried because some core units will no longer be available in the stores. This means Tohaa will not get some of the new players that might have chosen the faction because so much is just not there anymore. If we are going to see resculpts in the future for these units then it's not a problem at all.
I think the upset over discontinued SKUs makes more sense in relation to the other armies than it does for these. Mainly because those other armies rely on more of a single unit to make up a fireteam, and some of the SKUs were of the SWC boxes. Most of what is being discontinued are single blisters, and Tohaa only needs one or 2 of those models per army.
So... let's face it: It seems like every sculpt matching a profile which will be not part of spiral company is running out of production. Isn't that what gettIng frenched is all about? I highly doubt there will ever be any resculpts for those profiles. the RL Sukeul is not even two years old. no one can tell me it will resculpted in the future.
Seems likely but is it that bad a thing? We get a new sectorial out of it. Hopefully one that CB feels they can more properly support/maintain as needed. And its not like the French are gone from the game. Hell we'll probably get more support than the french got in that the Spiral Corps profiles are coming to vanilla as well. Basically we get: A kick of new stuff, Closure that vanilla is probably done. New Twohaa to check out. Seems like a pretty good end result to me.
But I don't play that sector. For me, all that just means I will never get a sculpt for Sukeul HMG, Taquel, Sakiel SWC aso. Just pumping up vanilla with new shiny profiles disappoints me. So yeah, for me it's a bad thing. And to be honest, I no longer trust CB to provide long-term support for new factions.
Yes, you can doubt what Koni has said, like everything CB states these days. But there will be no repack in the near future. I would be glad if you would be right, but atm I lost all my confidence.
We've spent 12+ years without a Swiss Guard hacker, some profiles just need to be proxied or converted.
I just don't understand how you get from one to the other. They are reducing SKUs to make room for new ones. This means you are _more likely_ to get some of things you are asking for. When you have as many SKUs as CB does every single blister you release has to be weighed against the mountain of product you already have. By discontinuing these old models they are making room to release new and missing units. Sukeul will be repacked into a 2 pack blister for the models we have already. I think it's totally reasonable they'll do a Sukeul HMG in the future. So much for the positive thread! Fun while it lasted.
All the new units will be available to your current army. You do not have to play Spiral Corps to use them. Some profile options will not be universal between the two.
Well given that it has been stated that there will be a "BattlePack" at GenCon (in the what is happening in 2019 blog post) and that is the term they have used for all the Operation boxes so far, what do you think is more likely? Personally, it could fit to continue or fill in the storyline, by giving a series of missions revolving around the closing of the Daedalus gate. Much like how ColdFront ties into the greater story of last year by falling between Uprising and Kurage Crisis
So what you don't want is new releases for your army you just want supplements to old units that have some models already? Thats your choice I guess. I'm going to be real with you here for a minute. Sometimes life isnt fair. It sucks but we all gotta deal with it some of the time. Im sorry that you're the one losing out on this one. However we're still talking about a miniatures game no need to be so miserable about it. From my point of view Spiral is basically the same as Vanilla but with a few tweaks to the design of the army. Or at least thats what it looks like. Seems like a good way to try and revitalize the army.
