Right right, forgot about the biker+wolf combo. Still not a sign we might get some of the rougher mercs like druze/brawlers but at least it opens the door.
Well, I personally hate the fact as their fluff does not resonate with elite task force. It suits more Ikari or Gabqar.
Id rather use carmen in vanilla with my kum swarm, that would be cool. Any guesses on how many new RTF haqq units we might see. Im still hoping for about 5.
For me, its really just the aesthetic of that unit which is putting me off. I want RTF to be about bio-enhanced super-soldiers backed by the most influential biomedical power in the HS. I want super powers, turbans, an array of multi-wound infantry, and an akbar doctor. I too would probably use carmen in vanilla, but I really need to find another way of representing the hammer dog. I don't want that thing in any of my lists.
I guess you could use the robotic panther "mobility form" of Su-Jian for that, and maybe one of the Kum Twins for the biker (or Limited edition Penthesilea, when we are at that). I believe it would have the high-tech look enough :)
So I was reading through the Haqqislam RPG book and noticed that Khawarij, Djanbazan, and Naffatun are listed as Super Soldiers. The first two are obvious, but the last one surprised me. Apparently, they are given light augmentation to be resistant to heat. I don't know if it really matters, and I don't know if it should be reflected in rules, but it is interesting to see how common CB thinks augmentations are in Haqqislam forces.
I wouldn't call it "common". Do we have any internal count as to how many individuals this is? 'Cause the above could be Green Berets, SEALs, and Coast Guard. Ending up to be a pretty small percentage.
Maybe this is hinting at naffatun getting revamped. Maybe they can get a hrl option, maybe they get fire immunity?
Well, sounds like they are going to be adjusted somehow. Though Fire Immunity would be unprecedenced - it would require Total Immunity, if I'm not mistaken. I could think of a couple of things that could be attributed to "supersoldier treatment" yet would be still rather low-key with the unit retaining much of its point price bracket and role. Say, V: Courage or V: Dogged, for example. Shock Immunity (but not in combination with V:Dogged, as it becomes way more effective then). Or maybe Stealth. Please keep in mind - I'm just throwing out ideas off my mind, it is not like I have any inside knowldge.
Naffatun having subtle modifications could just be represented by BTS 3 Be cool if they got Shock Immunity or something too though. Or even just re-do the profile to make it more elite rather than a re-equipped Ghulam, maybe Shock Immunity and V: Dogged? And then like, a SMG/HRL profile. Ooh baby.
