With 'Soldiers of Fortune' bringing four Aristeia! character to infinity, and because @Bostria acted as if he liked the idea at Q&A, I thought it would be fun to talk about what Inquisitor Mendoza might look like in Infinity! His background is of military and possible spec Ops (the 3rd offensive story hints on this) so he's a good fit for infinity. What do we know of him? https://aristeiathegame.com/characters/mendoza https://aristeiathegame.com/blog/item/526-in-depth-padre-inquisidor-mendoza He appears in a little story excerpt in the 3rd Offensive bbok, where he is thought to have been seen in a black-ops mission on Paradiso where he is instrumental in winning a load of ground. https://aristeiathegame.com/blog/item/518-smoke-and-mirrors-smoke-behind-the-mirror NOTE: I choose to discount the Aristeia smear story as a cynical character assassination job! So he is a zealous cleric, a 'father-inquisitor' (and possibly a father-officer of some rank also), and has a history fighting with fire in the jungle hell of Paradiso. In Aristeia he wields a fiery boarding shotgun, but he is also a healer. It would be really cool if he was a Blackfriar character, and it would fit the real history- the Dominicans (A.K.A. The Order of Preachers; Backfriars) were the core of the historical Spanish inquisition. His cloak and hood is black like the Blackfriars, and maybe his habit has just been spiced up with orange for the benefit of the show. So perhaps he could have Blackfriar stats, Medium infantry with 4-2 move, but with a point of extra WIP and Armour maybe. Then he'd need to be a doctor and a wield a Vulcan shotgun. He would certainly be in Military Orders, and perhaps other PanO sectorials. What do you guys think?
The current model is pretty clearly an HI, with a Swiss-like chest, ORC backpack, and the legs show servo-muscles. Most likely he'd be a modified Father Knight, in the way that Patsy is a modified ORC. Vulkan Shotgun seems appropriate though. Interesting note: There's a snippet in 3rdO with one soldier swearing blind that he saw Mendoza lead an assault on a strongpoint, with his colleague telling him that he's going barmy and that it was just a regular Father Knight.
A FK Mendoza would be cool. I'd love a linkable vulcan shotgun HI. I suppose he might not have the same armour in Aristeia as in infinity... Yeah, that's the bit I was talking about in the 3rd bullet. It's pretty cool.
The way I see it Mendoza would be a Hospitaller or FK Paramedic/Doctor with a Vulcan Shotgun. IIRC Bostria said there were no plans to bring him over though.
Yeah that's what he said last year at adoption, when I asked if there were any plans to bring him specifically to infinity like lunah was
It does look like Daddy's Fall is focused on the contents of the Soldiers of Fortune expansion rather than Aristeia as a whole.
Hilarious, whether it's deliberate or not. Also, I think the plan to keep Aristos out of Infinity is old news. No clue if all of them will be coming over, but seeing the Soldiers of Fortune in Foreign seems like a big indicator of changes.
Quite deliberate, my swipe keyboard has issues with Daedalus, and then there's the apostrophe conundrum... My way is easier and slightly more homoerotic, a win-win!
Oh I'm sure we'll see them all at some point with new skins etc etc etc. All about the bottom line. Can't wait to see Musashi 6.0
Off the top of my head, Father-Knight stats with a Vulcan Shotgun. Either Specialist Operative or a big-boy specialist skill (doctor?). Biometric Visor to play up the Dominican order. Some form of linkability - either counting as a F-K for fireteam composition or having a special Haris with F-Ks and Black Friars.
He actually might be a good place for Chain of Command. Taking charge when the Lt is down and all that. But, yeah, Father-Knight Doctor with a Vulcan Shotgun pretty much captures him in Infinity form.
A Shotgun wielding Specialist in PanO? The one time Bolts did something right... ... and then it was a Bolt... ... and a Hacker... ... Mildly pessimistic on that one.
I'm really curious if Valkyrie will find her way into a PanO sectorial. I'm really hoping so – she seems to fit our theme.
There was a time when I would have simply responded to this with "she's a nice thing". But we do sometimes get those these days, so I too wonder if we might see her come across our way.
at the very least she will be in foreign company – which one could consider a PanO mercy company (hopefully)
We'll see. If I play it then I guess it counts. (not that I don't have other armies, but I usually don't play them, they are for demos and other people!)
