Say you have a Zhencha climbing on a wall, can it place a mine on the wall? It appears the only requirement of placement is btb with the model. Solved: no you cannot Deployable. The user of this weapon or piece of Equipment can place it on the battlefield—but never on a vertical surface— whereupon it becomes an independent element.
Short answer: no. Horizontal surface only. (I asked the same question but with reference to a Tikbalang, many moons ago)
Got a link? Strictly going by the mine rules it should be allowed (not saying you're wrong, just that there doesn't appear to be anything saying you can't).
I seem to remember the same answer of no. But with the old forum dead no way to check... So could be wrong.
There's no RAW counter-argument against it, so unless it's one of those "palanka said it once"-type of rulings then yes, you can place a mine on a wall.
Yes, it's one of those 'Palanka said it on the old forum' ones. However it's not just that, it's also inferred in the first Effect: By spending a Short Skill or ARO, the user places a Camouflage Marker (CAMO) on the game table to represent the camouflaged Mine. This action is an Attack. My emphasis. That phrasing is used fairly consistently in the rules for 'on a horizontal surface'.
As long as they are off the game table, AD troopers add no Orders to their respective Order Pools. However, an undeployed AD trooper still generates an Order usable only to deploy with Airborne Deployment. By that logic a climbing AD trooper wouldn't generate an order @ijw :p "Game table" is another one of those inconsistent and undefined terms :sigh:
Nah, it's literally only a case of 'Palanka said it on the old forum'. Using "on the game table" is much too vague. Especially when skills like speculative fire starts to differentiate between "game table" and "piece of terrain", because even though you could reasonably infer that "game table" is a term for horizontal, you can suddenly start to argue that mines aren't allowed to be placed on building or stairs, horizontal or otherwise.
by itself, that says nothing. Bran Do Castro is a camo token and is allowed to be on vertical surface. So yes it is possible to place a token on vertical surface even if it won't stick there (outside of bluetac or magnets).
Models can be deployed climbing, and models with climbing plus can climb while in the camo state, so there is no restriction about a camo marker being on a wall.
But... A mine can't be deployed in a wall because has the trait "Deployable", and if we read the description of it... Deployable. The user of this weapon or piece of Equipment can place it on the battlefield—but never on a vertical surface— whereupon it becomes an independent element. http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Traits
