Wildcats are super efficient as BS 13 MI for that cost, yeah. And they have FDL1 these days which is awesome. Some people really like using Wildcats, others don't. I feel that tbh they don't really need changing because that's not necessarily a bad thing, it means you're got variance and flexibility. Personally? I love them, and I'm not sure what else you'd give them that would feel fitting.
That would be huge for reinforcing advancing links as members go down or get left behind for various reason too.
Unlike the TAG and even AD ITS rules I wouldn't expect that one to stay permanently. I wouldn't be surprised to see Wildcats get a permanent FD1 or NCO or Tactical Awareness or something to help them advance to encourage the close quarters combat they were designed around. That's the main thing they could be tweaked with the Combi+LFT is already the best profile.
I wouldn't be upset it they got mimetism like Kaplans. What's that cost, 3 or 5 points? I know some people on here have had great success with Wildcats and I'm sure as hell not going to pretend to know the game better, but I've never been able to craft around the Wildcat core when I could get the Alguacile core + 2 infiltrators or Massacre core + 1 infiltrator for the same price. Does the 13 BS and 2 ARM really make them that much more survivable? Honestly looking for feedback/advice.
Same lazy Wild Card and mixed Fireteams as everyone else. Shame they can't be bothered to ever do a real rework of these Sectorials.
Some things are just a reworked standard like having line infantry, reasonably priced HI with 4-4, Haris, or access to DTW. Corregidor gets their unique updates as well they just need an update to standard now.
For me what makes Wildcats great is a variety of niche things that come together usefully. Forward Deployment means they can start off in just slightly better positions, spreading the team out in depth and breadth. The LFTs that they have are so useful as B2 killers against light targets, if you need to use them that way. The specialist options include an Engineer (useful in CJC with REMs and such) and an Assault Hacker who will get SSL2 in the link, that's really beneficial. BTS 6 doesn't come up a lot against some factions, but against others? It can be super useful to be bouncing viral rifle shots on a 5 in cover, or laughing off nanopulsers, or whatever. The 0 SWC lt, very handy. The Boarding Shotgun option, a linked Boarding Shotgun can be absolutely ruinous. Multiterrain is awesome on many boards, we often play with jungle and other such features. The +2 BS over Alguaciles! Wildcats aren't that expensive, they are good nail drivers, they have various cool benefits and if you want a link team to close with and kill the enemy, grab objectives etc they have always done me an amazing job.
Just add a bullet point so pilots can't be in fire teams. Problem solved. As for Wildcats, I agree with @loricus. Adding an NCO/TA profile or two, maybe a doctor would make their core a lot more appealing. It would also help to show Corregidor's "professional military" side as opposed to Bakunin's and Tunguska's high tech spec ops theme.
Bakunin is a crap comparison, to be honest. It's two groups that got merged into one: the "high tech spec ops" side and the derptastic Observance garbage. Cut the Observance out of Bakunin and you'd actually have an interesting group, instead of the Missing Link of the Military Orders.
Hopefully the update will come with a couple of resculpts too. Wildcat swc box, morans etc. I wouldn't mind seeing Mobile Brigada get a wildcard link option. It would be nice to get these guys onto the table more.
If you ever want to run a mindless beatstick list I've had a lot of fun with something like this. Bandit can easily be swapped for Moran/Hellcat and it's relatively easy to sneak in a MB hacker for Rems. Wildcats don't need a SWC box, they need a box period. Unless the update is accompanied by a new CJC starter? It's a dumpsterfire of a sculpted sectorial right now.
Take all the combi rifle Intruder variants. Make a clone profile, but downgrade their camo to mimetism. Give them tactical awareness to maintain the price. Let those profiles count as Wildcats for linking purposes. I'd love to make use of the Intruders' AVA 5!
Corridor wishlist: 1)New Masai hunter models. 2)Iguanas being made less hopeless, which will benefit QK too.
