Current Problem I am Having with VRD

    So I have had 2 games in with VRD (HUGE sample size I know) but I see a trend so far.

    I end up dominating the game by the end of the first or second turn and don't get to complete objectives.

    First game was Acquisition against TAK and I put my opponent in on the first turn, so I didn't get a second turn and hadn't done ANY of the mission objectives. Final score 0-0.

    Second game last night was against Druze and I put my opponent in Loss of LT on the first turn and retreat on the second, managed to scramble with my last 4 orders of the second turn to access one console. Won 1-0.


    The problem I see is two-fold.
    1) VRD troopers not very tough, most being ARM 1. So to survive an objective run I feel you need to clear the fire-lanes that are covering the objective.

    2) Kamau links, Zulu Cobras and Echo-Bravos are extremely efficient at killing things.

    Well, from the sound of it, you just need to focus a bit less on killing. Focus on specifically taking out troops that are shooting down firelanes or guarding your objectives. Once those have been taken out, just move in with your Zulu Cobra and Croc Man specialists. Unless your opponent has every single one of his troops out in the open, you shouldn't find yourself *forced* to take out his entire army in turn 1.

    Agreed. VIRD is also pretty fantastic in the reactive turn, so don't hesitate to focus more on the objectives when you're on the play.

    Yeah when I first started playing neoterra I'd have similar issues. When you're so good at shooting it's easy to just get into that mode. Also us not having smoke makes it harder to just ignore people and run at objectives but I think that's a fun part of the pano puzzle. Just keep at it and you'll get the feel for it and the right balance. I've leaning more towards a kamau msv2 plus fusi defensive link and a patsy led Harris to be my objective/mid field takers. Also crocs and zulus are great at grabbing the objectives and I'll take some and remind myself they're expendable and all they have to do is get the objective.

    You don't have proper scoring specialists (Trauma-Docs, Machinists don't count, the Fusilier Hacker is stuck in the defensive linkteam and Echo Bravos are situational because they start offmap) and your lists are almost completely focussed on killing. That's nice for kill missions, but a very bad idea for specialist missions. Start deploying Patsy solo once the objectives are taken (she can easily hold the middle in Acquisition with suppressive fire). Utilize Zulu Cobra KHDs and Crocman FOs and scoring should be no problem in the future.

    Don't forget multi weapons have stun ammo. I tend to shoot first and ask questions later too so I have to work on not killing people and stun ammo is nice for that.

    This helps a LOT in ARO.

    And can prevent attack runs from getting up steam too.
