When using gut roll to hide, you are supposed to improve your cover

Let's suppose trooper A declare move then shoot trooper B
The BS attack happen at the middle of A movement

B survive the attack then fail it's guts roll. How do we evaluate if the movement will improve the cover ?

Do we look at trooper A final position ? Trooper A position when he shot ? Both ? Either ?

If B can improve his cover vs A final position but not vs A shooting position, is he allowed to move ?

It's relative to the final positions (before guts), for both A and B.
It's one of the several situations that puts the lie to "Everything is simultaneous" once you have to start putting things in sequences.

Unless you're making the guts move to get out of a "danger area" of a template, then the only position you care about is where the template was placed.

It's relative to the attack. Not to the position of the attacking trooper. So, you evaluate the cover based on the LOF used for the attack that caused the Gut's.

"If the troop fails its Guts Roll, it must go Prone or move up to 2 inches in order to abandon the danger zone, gain Cover, or improve its Coveragainst the attack."

Also, danger areas applies to Hacking and Sensor Areas, not just templates.

The only reason the attacking Trooper's position is relevant is because you can never Guts towards that position.
