No Lt. of course...10 Grunts or 9 Grunt(paramedic)? Toss in a BJ AP HMG? Kitchen sink? Bathwater?

Our Escalation league starts Wednesday and I feel like this could be an easy win if I would quit overanalyzing such limited choices. For this first round thinking skipping high cost models to avoid opponents being able to focus fire on the juiciest point opportunities.

Feel free to offer your own wacky ideas.

A blackjack and a 5 man link team is going to have very few things that are set up to kill it in such a low point cost game. Plus, with the biggest strength of US being upward point trading you're well set up to have fun with some wacky 100 point lists.

That's what I was thinking, it's just hard not to trade him for 3 more Grunts...that's 9 dice vs his 4/3 in the active/reactive turns(w/suppression fire). Maybe not the best way to look at it, but I tend to build my lists based on dice count...how many dice can I bring to bear in any given situation. Because lets face it, the dice in the game can be really swingy.

I get where you're coming from on the more dice factor, especially with a D20 based system which by design will be swingy-er (more swingy?) than d6 game.

But armor 8 in cover and the higher BS are what I like of the original options. In a 100 point game there just isn't likely to be much that can really threaten that effectively. Especially because you still have a core team. Those three additional grunts would be unlinked and most likely upfield somewhere on supressive fire.

Yeah, they would. I'm realizing that with the Grunt spam setup, there is no real "hunter"...thinking I'm going to with the BJ option.

I played in one of these with FRRM, and my first game was against a guy with TAK...he took a Dog Warrior, held it back in reserve, dropped it on the table, and destroyed everyone he faced that night. Although we couldn't use fire teams at 100pts.

    Just for fun:

Let us know how your doing.
I feel like USARF has so many other great things that it would get a little boring just bringing a pile of grunts. You could easily fit in a hard case, desperado, or foxtrot without losing many grunts and get some some out of unique models.

USAriadna seems like it can be dirty in an escalation league, because their strong choices are strong because they're fantastic for their cost. Grunts and Blackjacks seem to be in the right vein of murder. I do love grunts and the BJ so I like where you're going. I added in Rosie for an extra specialist, and I went with HFT grunts to help protect against infiltrators/rambos bum rushing you... also some extra flavor vs just more rifles.

But here's an idea I'd like to toss into the ring, board control and bikes.

For low pt USAriadna games, remember, marksman level x and a sniper is only .5 swc and 8 points more then your grunt. And on active turn they can murder a lot of things that should be higher on the food chain then them.

The infiltration/heavy flamethrower grunt can give you so much board control for so little investment. I've had one or two of these guys hold up the enemy in 300 pt games, I can't imagine the limited resources of a 100 pt game.

I love my dozer, that and if someone sneaks in a rambo managing to tag them with the Arkylat can head to hilarity... also more specialists.

Also how big are the tables? Because I feel that desperadoes or mavericks may have a lot of real estate to cross pretty fast. They're super cheap for how effective they can be, but can get mauled by well covered lanes of fire. I also feel that smoke at this pts level can be tougher to overcome due to the investment most factions have to pay for MSV2. Why I also took the desperado to give her a buddy or to just give you more templates.

Doing excellent. After three evenings of 3 games each(100, 120, 150) I am in the lead by almost 10 points. I park the T2 BJ on the highest point in my DZ...no cover. My opponents have to deal with him or he locks down 2/3rds of the table. This burns a ton of orders in their first turn and usually gives me the edge going forward. I will say that after hitting the 120pt threshold, I have promoted the Grunts up to Light Grenade Launchers and once within 16", spec fire the heck out everything. It's a hoot when a 3 man fireteam gets blown to bits by a 14pt model they can't even shoot back at.

It's not all bread and roses though, there were a couple games where the BJ fell early and I would lose the game...but usually only by a point or two. I can see where it might get "boring" but the fun for me is seeing what people bring each week to face my "grunt list". I played tonight(with 150) and only added two Airborne Rangers...they didn't see any action, as it was all on the far side of the table and I didn't have the orders to spare to get them all the way across, as the Grunt fireteam and BJ fell by the top of turn 2. The Light Grenade Launcher Grunt Lieutenant was the star, rolling two separate crits on spec fire rolls in the bottom of turn 3.

I love this game win or lose. Hope you all are having just as much fun.

Depending on your terrain and if you need the height, remember that the blackjack can go prone to gain cover from elevation.

Maybe boring was the wrong word. I didn’t mean any judgement by it.
