I really love the character of these guys. PanO, Yu Jing, Nomads all begin to blur for me but these guys have a unique look and feel. I hope to see something soon (more Grey Rifles, new Cateran sculpts, Mormaers!, Cameronians, updated S.A.S.)...but I fear there are other priorities.
I don't want to bother you, but Caledonians seem very complete at the moment and most sculpts are very old. Therefore there are imo two possibilities: The will go the way of MRRF and Accon or they will get a rework like Shasvastii within the next year's starting, but not before 2020.
Old? Nah, most of the sculpts are CAD already. Just give us a Grey Rifles Box and everything is done.
Honestly I would love a box of Grey Rifles, but would put forward that Caterans, SAS and McMurrough are all awesome pieces, but pretty old (if still nice) sculpts for the most part. The SAS in particular are so tiny with the new CAD scaling that they look out of place on the table. I truly hope these guys are not on the chopping block
I'm fine with my models as is. Currently I've got everything I want for the faction painted, and ready to go. The sculpts themselves seem fine to me, so about the only thing that would be nice would to fill in some of the missing profiles. But it CB redoes any of the models I won't be buying them, since I've already got them, and don't want to paint a second set. About the only ones I might relent on are the old wulvers, which are a bit long in the tooth :) . (pun intended) I didn't even bother with the most recent releases.
I guess I am just a sucker for new sculpts and almost always buy the new ones, even though the old ones are often adequate to fine.
I mean if they are going to get chopped. Ill have to buy as many 45th as I can so I can get my 44 45th list done.
I'll save you some trouble, a 44 45ther list is illegal, since you can only have 4 combat groups, so 39+ Wallace LT.
Army has a limitation of 4 combat groups, but the actual rule states: "When creating the Army List, the player must assign each troop to a Combat Group; he will be allowed to create as many Combat Groups as desired, as long as the total amount of troops in each one is no greater than 10." So I can have 44 combat groups with a single trooper in each one if I so please.
Technically if it's not allowed in Army6, then it's not a legal ITS list, since you must submit your list via ITS, and have it checked. :)
I'd like to see a proper model for the Highlander Grey with BSG, but otherwise I think we're fully served with miniatures. (Certainly, that's the only one I'm missing - my conversion is showing its age now). The things I'm interested in are related to improvements to fireteams & unit profiles.
I think the only things needing new sculpts are Wallace and the SAS. The cateran too maybe Sadly, I doubt SAS will be redone because they had a repack not long ago... But maybe Wallace could be on the cards
CHA's had a pretty healthy release schedule the last couple of years. Something fresh is always possible, but with the huge pile of new 2018 releases (and more to come in 2019) I wouldn't wait around too much.
As others have said, Caledonia is mostly up to date sculpt-wise and rules wise they're quite solid too, very competitive in most cases. That being said, things like Moramers could use some re-tooling to make them worth taking.
I asked specifically about Cameronians and Bostria answered that there were no plans to release re-sculpted caledonia units for the foreseeable fututre
