This list might also be quite challenging to oppose: TAG+Core+Doc/KHD/Engineer/Sierra ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 2 SERAPH Spitfire, Nanopulser + AUXBOT_3 / EXP CCW. I'm not excited by the prospect of paying 21 pts for a a basic unlinkable Hacker. I'm not sure which Seraph is the best. I usually put down so much terrain when I play that HMGs often lose their appeal if they dont stay above rooftops. The flamer bot, now that it superjumps, could be a huge help in close quarter (depends on matchup).
He outclasses all lieutenants except for maybe Joanne. What worries me is using active Lt as a standard with no guarantees of CoC. One lucky crit from a DA weapon and he could be down in a single ARO.
In before next MO update, we lose all lt. Profiles except the teuton, which still dont receive a profile update. They are going to force us to play teutons without admitting they are wrong
He was saying Konstantinos. Both BF and Koni have their place in a fireteam. In fact, I find sometimes Koni more interesting just because I play on tables with flanks with difficult terrains only and BF is horrible on those.
Preface: I'm not a MO player, I usually rock ASA/NCA and more recently Varuna mainly, but after playing two tournaments in a row with Varuna I'm in need of a breather – and the MO updates loosely interested me. From what I've heard, theres a lot of grief over them so I decided to give list building a shot. I've always been a big fan of Joan so I'm kind of excited for Christmas to be over and to get this on the table: List 1 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 JOAN OF ARC Lieutenant Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 51) FATHER-KNIGHT Missile Launcher / Breaker Pistol, DA CCW. (1.5 | 49) ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) ORDER SERGEANT Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) KNIGHT OF THE HOLY SEPULCHRE (Chain of Command) Spitfire / Pistol, DA CCW. (2 | 56) KNIGHT HOSPITALLER Doctor (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 35) PALBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) PALBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) SPEC. SERGEANT (CH: TO Camouflage, Infiltration) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 33) MACHINIST (Father-Engineer) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) 6 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army Looking at this mechanically, each unit has a place or role. Joan operates as a solo attack/flanker piece, the core link acts as a tough-as-nails ARO platform. The Hospitaller doctor can support both of these guys while also operating as a tough specialist, or he can pull duty as a way to clear mines/skirmishers. The CoC KOHS can do something similar if Joan I shitting a particularly weak part of the board, or can be kept back and saved for later in the game. The TO MSR can clear TR bots or any other tough ARO pieces. he can also double duty as Warband ARO. The only out of place unit is the engineer who is just sort of a cheerleader or an emergency specialist/mr.fixit. It's not necessarily a bad option but I keep feeling there is something better for the points. Here is a slightly alternative variant: List 2 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 JOAN OF ARC Lieutenant Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 51) FATHER-KNIGHT Missile Launcher / Breaker Pistol, DA CCW. (1.5 | 49) ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) SPEC. SERGEANT (CH: TO Camouflage, Infiltration) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 33) KNIGHT OF THE HOLY SEPULCHRE (Chain of Command) Spitfire / Pistol, DA CCW. (2 | 56) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges + 1 TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 38) TRAUMA-DOC (Father-Doctor) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) PALBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) PALBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) 6 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army This ultimately draws on the same strengths that the other list does, but is a little more dangerous to enemy hackers, albeit with a weaker specialist. I find with MO each piece really needs to be doing something, there is very little room for the true "cheerleader" Regardless, I think I'm going to take the first list for a spin. Let me know what you guys think! I'll probably report back after I get a game in
@MikeTheScrivener It feels like the second list is stronger due to being able to tie Joan to the Santiago as a duo, which stops her going into frenzy so easily. KoTHS is a great third turn attack piece, especially if Joan has already wrecked havoc across the board.
this is very true, thanks for the insight. Truthfully, I don't mind Joan going impetuous if she's trying to take up a flank, trying to make it into the opponents back line – but it is very useful to drag a specialist along for the ride.
In both lists the link lacks hard hitting or high burst weapons. ML is nice ARO but bit too dicy and unreliable in active tuen. You will have only 10 orders, and you wont have time to pointlessly shoot combis against something with >ARM3 in cover.
I find that often times, when most players are confronted with an insanely tough ARO piece they'll either ignore it or spend a lot of resources getting rid of it and possibly lose one of those tougher units in the process. I disagree with you that a B2 missile launcher on 17s is "dicey". I understand where you're coming from though, I think the sectorial on a whole has a problem dealing with visual mods/overall tough opponents. Outside of the B5 Hospitaller HMG link, there really isn't much – but I kind of see that as a crutch and am looking to avoid it.
Thats my point. Sudenly Ruiyken, most of Steel Phalanx, Vet Kazaks etc will just heavily roadblock you. And MO has no orders "just to throw at the enemy". Good example is how IA have nice linkable Breaker Combi on NCO. Both your MO lists will fold once some sturdy units (visuals or ARM). You wont lose poeple, but enemy will just easily stall you enough to accomplish nothing.
Yep. Thats more or less every Joan train game ;P Yet, funny enough I won all last games when my Joan got isolated.
Against steel phalanx and other tough opponent Konstantinos in a knight link might be your thing. I think that his added value compared to the blackfriar.
Wow, I had not thought about that but its true. Konstantinos counting as an OS means he can join knight links that can add an OS. Thats really useful. Hes a bit tougher than an OS and that MSV 2 is sure to be useful.
