So I’ve slowly been gathering a few minis for Ariadna to give me a little alternative for my Aleph. And with the new TAK, I decided to limit myself with a sectorial. Keeping it simple. So now I’ve got a bunch of models ready for paint, but when they’re done, what to add? Models : 2 x Antipode Packs 3 x Spetznaz 1 x Assault Cannon Tankhunter 2 x Scouts What got me into Ariadna would be Camo and werewolves. I hope to end up with a merry band of camo tokens mixed with big pointy fangs. So how have your experience been with the TAK, and what models have been carrying your victories?
I think it's safe to say you will like Streloks (also wolves!) Dynamos and Veteran Kazaks (medic or APHMG). Can't go wrong with Irmandinhos! Welcome to the fray, Komrade!
Irmandhinos are great, cheap specialists that usually swing above their points. It’s also hilarious when you get something lik a monofilament weapon off the booty chart. As was said above, the streloks are great midfield specialists or can bring a dog as well. You may want to look at one of the fireteam options if you are sticking within TAK. While fireteams aren’t required, they are a major benefit to the variety you lose out on.
+1 for Irmandinhos. Im not terribly experienced, but so far they have been great - scoring points or rambo-ing up the board first turn to chain rifle stuff for the lolz. I ran the Strelok K9 last game, they were neat too. Run up the board, dropped a mine to be an ass, then super jumped mr doggo over a crate to fall into combat to donk people on the head. Glorious. Antipodes make great guided missiles, and they are cheap as hell, too. Easy to swing above their weight and trade way, way up.
If you like wolves then don't forget Dog-warriors and Batard! The former are effectively 3W beasts, whilst the latter has a DA throwing weapon and a 'bonus' mercenary biker.
I'd like to know this as well. Since Dog-Warriors, Devil Dogs, Caledonian Dogfaces, Sterloks and the different Antipode units are one of the draws for me to play Ariadna.
Cold front or beyond cold front would be at the top of my list. Next to that, hmmm Vet Kazak AP HMG or AP HMG Tankhunter, I love him as a rambo model.
It depends. In case of Antipode Assault pack, chose the biggest, scariest, juisiest, toughest target and go kill it in CC! Think of them as a cruising missile that takes out someone, then ceases to exist. Marker state means they have a very, very good chance to reach their target. Thanks to high burst in CC, they have a very, very good chance to reach their target. Blunt weapon. Cameronians are a different bunch. Twin-linked chain rifles and grenades means they have a pretty unfair weapon loadout that you can abuse. Smoke grenades with a PH of 16 means you are throwing smoke on 19-s. Not bad, to say the least. Again, this guy has a very good chance going wherever he wants on the table, but you need far more orders and use his tricks. Think of him as a scalpel, not a blunt weapon. 2 wounds and total immunity sugegst he is a tough guy, but since he lacks high BS and guns (that roll to hit) he will be tanking opposing hits by the truckload. Don't erode his wounds unnecessarily! The same is true for my personal favourite, Duroc. In tandem with Margot, they will destroy enemy armies one by one, step by step.
Being a CHA player, I take McMurrough and up-to 3 Cameronians. The latter act as ablative armour for the former, taking AROs to put down smoke, etc. Then McMurder kills the heavy stuff with coordinated CC; not even TAGs like an AP+DA CCW with up-to B4 and DAM22. Remember that you can really confuse your opponent; run round a corner & force your opponent to choose between dodge the Chain-rifles, or shoot back against your Grenades. Then charge into CC. Plus, don't forget speculative grenades; you should be hitting on 13s, so it's a reasonably decent alternative to face-to-face shooting. (Especially as you can combine it with smoke cover).
Veteran Kazaks are really good, use one or two and you'll never want to put them back in your carry case. I mostly use the Paramedic, AP HMG and X-Visor. Since the release of TAK I'm slowly venturing into using the Haris fire team...
