During a Conquest game something really spectacular happened last night. Maximus has 3 wounds. My Valkirie has 3 wounds. I activate Valkirie and charge Maximus adding 3 orange dice to the attack. We rolled. Both Maximus and Valkirie were sent to the infirmary, leaving the center scoring zone open...!
I think one of the most entertaining aspects of this game is unpredictability. Unlike many other tabletop games the defender's can do quite a bit of . When you add extra Tactics that can add to the defender's roll things can really go sour fast. Of course Aristeia! is as much an area control game as a frag game but it is tough to control area when 2 or 3 of your characters are in the Infirmary.
I love simultaneous damage by both sides in a close combat. It forces the player to really look at the odds seriously.
