I'd change that vavnguard and r-drone to an e-drone and tweak some stuff. The vanguard hacker is.. what I take if I absolutely have to.
Has the benefit of a linkable Tinbot now though... Plus being a specialist who will end up in the middle of the board anyway. And being capable of hacking AD, unlike AHD/KHDs. EDIT - except seemingly not in that list, because the Hacker seemed to be out of the link :/
So i played vanilla with the new Oznat + Preta combo in my list over the weekend. Figured i'd share a couple of observations. Being able to chuck smoke and then hide inside it while pulsing out Sensor is actually a lot more useful than you might think - being vulnerable to AROs is always a problem of performing long skills while out in the open. Was also a good combo with my double-SMG Krakot. In addition, the combo of sensor, the vulkan shotgun, and the preta's chain rifle makes Discover + Shoot a really, really, really strong move vs camo markers, especially if you're within 8 inches. Sensor gives a flat +6 to discover rolls, so in addition to the range bonus you're looking at WIP 16 after mods for cover and mimetism (and 6 from the Preta as well - dont forget that second dice!). Most opponents will dodge or shoot in the face of those odds, and then they have to eat both a fire shotgun and a chain rifle. Pulled that combo against two opponents and took out two Zeroes and a Libertos with it. Sure, she's more expensive than the competition in other armies, but that mobile sensor with smoke, shotgun and chain rifle is a gamechanger IMO.
@itsuncertainwho @Golem2God @RobertShepherd Played Safe Area yesterday vs Varuna. It went way better than I expected. Since in my opinion this mission favors second player, I assumed that my opponent would pick going second, so once I won the roll, decided to pick the side, just not to give him a better high ground for his snipers. Bold move, but in the end it was worth it. Safe Area v.2 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 4 MORAT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. If i'd go second, I'd probably just cover every corner with chain rifle of Daturazi's. What I liked: - lots of orders. - you can either get out of DZ with Suryat+Vang, Q-drone with assisted fire, or just use smoke - Suryat took down both snipers one by one, and then a hellot. But I've got lucky with the first hit, while I was shooting at 13's, and his sniper at 16's. But I had plenty of orders at my disposal, and with ARM7 total I have good chanced of staying alive even losing the FTF roll. - pretas with chain rifles and v-dogged are still good - placing multiscanner on first attempt What I didn't like: - I still have really mixed feelings about hungries. Playing them without team pro is just painful almost every time for me. Like this list utilizes that there are 3 possible cores, but second group suffers quite a lot due to loss of 4 regular orders, once hungries go impetuous. - not enough specialists(for this mission) as they had to be spread. - that we're dragging our LT ape to the frontline. Yes-yes, we're morats, but still, losing(regular->irregular) up to 8 orders is a bit painful in a roster that focuses on aggression. - restricted deployment due to desire of making fancy moves with CORE switching. I think it will feel better once I/you agree that Daturazi's should be left impetuous. - Daturazi still unable to roll up to 14 or 17. Overall good impressions and feelings. Suryat with vanguards is really good. Maybe indeed forget about a daturazi link, and drop 1 daturazi to get slave drones and better weapon on Raktorak Also going to play Unmasking today.
Hi all! New to Infinity and would like to take advantage of this thread to ask some advices on a couple MAF lists I'm working on... I'm trying to put together an overall balanced list using all the miniatures I really like. MAF List 01 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 3 MORAT Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 14) MORAT Hacker (EI Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. Thanks in advance for any suggestion!
The only immediate feedback I'd offer is that an unlinked Oznat with no hungries anywhere is probably just a strictly worse daturazi. I'd remove her in both lists - and actually, she's expensive enough that if you cut her from the first list and stripped a few other profiles back, you could just about afford a Q-Drone, which is one of the high watermark elements of combined army generally and is well worth your time getting used to playing with. The second list is trickier but I like where it's going. You've managed to fit the two best unlinked gunfighters in faction in pretty convincingly. I'm not sure the NCO raktorak is doing you much good, though, since that isn't a link with the guns to go active. Consider using the points saved from the Oznat to put a 1SWC gun into the link instead (Red Fury Raktorak for example). (A note on models - infinity has very permissive proxy rules, so if you aren't using your Oznat as an Oznat she makes an excellent Daturazi, and similarly there's no issue using any of the Raktorak models as a Red Fury Raktorak)
If we're talking about second list with minimal changes, I'd go for this: MAF List 02 Raicho ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 MORAT Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 14) MORAT Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16) MORAT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) MORAT Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 19) RAKTORAK (NCO) Vulkan Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 24) SOGARAT (Full Auto L2) Feuerbach / Assault Pistol, AP CCW. (1.5 | 67) RAICHO MULTI HMG + Heavy Flamethrower / . (2 | 89) RAICHO PILOT 2 Heavy Pistols, D-Charges, Knife. () MED-TECH OBSIDON MEDCHANOID Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 23) SLAVE DRONE Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) IKADRON (Baggage, Repeater) 2 Light Flamethrowers, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 9) ZERAT (Forward Observer) Boarding Shotgun, Grenades, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army or you can swap zerat for rodok with KHD. You can park your core team somewhere for ARO, and then if things go south, you can come over, and you've got a guy who can go round corners quite good. Assuming that big guys cleared the way. But as all single group lists this one favors going first. Though has 3 good ARO pieces.
Thanks a lot @RobertShepherd and @Lesh' for the amazing advices! I will try the second list alternating the Zerat and and the Rodok with KHD and see what works better for me!
I had another game last night with the list below. First lost with it, although part of that is down to my now-supernatural ability to fail automedikit rolls on PHY15. (0 | 14) 4 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army I played Decapitation against a fairly standard Tohaa list. Some notes and highlights: - running the Sogorat in the second group has pros and cons. My opponent took orders from it, which meant I only have five on the first turn. This precluded a kill run on his HVT until turn two, which got especially dicey when a Gao-Rael didn't just hold off but actually wounded the Sogorat on the first turn as I tried to crack open a breach on the enemy left flank. However... - losing orders off the Sogorat meant I had a full bank in the first combat group, which let the Gakis sniff out a Libertos incredibly comfortably and still left me enough to blitz the Hungry link up the board. The Raktorak made up for the Sogorat's ill luck and gunned down a Nikoul in two orders, and then the entire link barrelled across the table, laid smoke and poured into melee to have the Oznat and three Pretas 4v1 the enemy Sukeul HMG that my opponent had as a datatracker. Took two orders to kill because symbiomates, but got her dead, which meant that on turn two I could secure that tasty 3pt advantage by having my Sogorat assault pistol the enemy HVT. - speaking of the Gakis above, as usual they're excellent counter-skirmishers that kind of makes the Sync Oznat a bit irrelevant. The enemy Libertos was holding down an alleyway from an elevated position. An Oznat absolutely could have advanced using her impetuous order, deployed the sensor with a regular order, and then sent the Preta in against the Libertos with a second regular order. A Gaki, using its own impetuous and irregular orders and one regular (i.e. the same impost on the pool as the Oznat would have) accomplished exactly the same thing by just bailing up the side of the building to approach the Libertos from out of cover, discover it, then run into melee and chew his face off (presenting a better albeit less survivable threat than the Preta does because melee + explode offers two chances in a single order to clear out the enemy). - Things eventually got away from me in the final round when the aforementioned Sogorat failed his automedikit roll to stand up and engage the enemy Sakiel lieutenant inside 8" with his assault pistol. On the upside, he was only unconscious (rather than dead) in the first place because of Bioimmunity, which massively ups his resilience against DAM13 viral rounds. Having failed the roll I instead used my Yaogat to try to launch the attack, which both a) failed and b) exposed my lieutenant to danger in decapitation. The Yaogat has been failing me a little recently, actually, and I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to swap him out for two Vanguards just for more orders for the big guy. I've got the SWC spare, even if it kind of sucks to waste the Lt order (and I'm not thinking of putting a Raktorak NCO in the preta link, although I suppose technically I could and he'd be BS21 rounding corners at short range). In retrospect I should have just pulled the Yaogat all the way back, forted him up behind everything else and played for a minor win, but I wanted to try to land the major and it backfired on me.
I love what you're doing with MAF @RobertShepherd , it's a completely different track to the limited insertion lists I keep dreaming up. Would be good to get a game in with you at Cancon but I'm kinda hoping I can dodge you! I've really got to get myself some Krakot Renegades.
Right now my plan is to play in both events (now that I know we've got enough TOs on the day for each to not need me as a ringer) so good odds some of us will cross paths during one or the other. I'm not sure of my lists for either yet but I'll definitely have MAF for at least one of the two events. :)
If I wasn't already grudged this would be an excellent way to submarine. I'm aiming to improve on my 7th placing this year which means I'll need to perform a little better! A little optimistic in MAF without my noctifer ML and Malignos assault hacker to crutch on. Here's my take on your list, I like the idea of having smoke/MSV2 on the table to deal with ARO pieces though acknowledge the Sog can probably brute force this somewhat. SWC becomes an issue with this change and the Vanguard LT but opens up the NCO option and nasty shotgun. I've dropped some renegades in preference to daturazi for more smoke but they aren't quite as threatening so it's a preference piece I guess. Sadly im playing VIRD because I've been trying to use Shasvastii all year and I need a break from constant failure. :)
I quite like that. Probably as expected you free up quite a few points by paring the Yaogat Lt back to a Vanguard. If you get a chance to play it, let us know how the shotgun Raktorak works (and in particular if he outperforms what you'd expect from just taking a shotgun oznat in the link for fewer points, e.g. if the BS breakpoint to get to BS21 is leveraged well). Initiate anti-Kamau countermeasures ...searching ...searching Anti-Kamau countermeasures not found
Any of those and some good luck will dislodge a Kamau MSV2, yes (a Sogorat for example gets to about a coinflip). Well, except maybe warbands. Nothing with the warband label in MAF can cross the board safely unless the table permits or until that sniper is neutralised. It's definitely one of the pieces to need to have a plan for.
Even core-linked Yaogats (assuming sniper not HMG) is little better than a coin flip. B3 15s vs B2 16s for significantly higher cost. Rasyats OTOH. They seem really good for the current meta with linked MSV2 profliferating.
