Interesting to see a Kaizoku in that list. I'm assuming it will be different to the ltd edition one that came with the army pack, but it will be interesting to see if it is the same as the old spec ops, with alt heads and a weapon sprue.
Ah I had forgotten that they'd done the geunt spec ops recently. Yep, seems very likely they'll do it that way then. Now how do I justify buying a second Kaizoku....
112 on a motorcycle? Hmm very rapid, like something a rapid response force would use. Is this a taste of the MRRF redesign? I'm hoping this is a positive sign that there's still some enthusiasm at CB HQ for our French friends and theyre not destined to be left on the scrap heap.
Leaked from distributors. I like this new style of starter box -- combining the starter and SWC box for the main troops means getting more for less. There's already a Zuyong HMG and Multi, this saves us from needing a Zuyong box, and most of what's remaining in IA can be blistered out. They did the same thing for Varuna and it seems like it worked pretty well there too.
Obligatory reminder the CB used to have a fantasy range of miniatures under the Warcrow brand. They even did awesome hats back then.
The Kaizoku doesn't make much sense... couldn't Corvus just release something more useful like an HMG Sukeul? The 3D model already exists (since 2017, if I'm not mistaken), they just need to change the pose a little bit and replace the weapon.
I hate, when sombody says "nobody will ever take the sniper" (because it simply not true, sombody will take it), but why a Daoying Sniper? Nobody will ever take it. You take this profil for LtL2 and not for spending 1,5 SWC for a mine and the chance to kill your Lt. in the active turn - it´s not even a very good sniper. Why not make the BSG Profile everyone will take and love (because so CB can sell another blister of Daoying? Is that the reson? Not already enough SKU?) Hope for a typo ... if not I hope for easy convertion. Why the Daoying needs a sniper option at all? If I wan´t a sniper in IA, I take the Haidao. Speaking of Haidao the combi version is okay, can pass as BSG easily ... left three Haidaos, not enough for a box, because they have no Tinbots (uhuh Tankos had no Tinbot also) ;-) The Zuyongs are good, so you have five now and all profiles covered. Liu is okay also. But - IA Starterbox - yay!
Well it means that JSA players get access to a spec ops model that was only a limited edition model you up to this point. And presumably like the Sukeul they will already have the 3d model. Not disagreeing that tohaa have been shafted on releases, but there is still a reason for giving this to JSA.
I feel like IA runs into the points cap before the SWC cap, so I do not see this as much of an issue. Also why not the sniper? Any option for the DaoYing will be in either of three states for 99% of of the time, In camouflage, Re-Camoing, or dead. I like the idea of using the sniper option for clearing out nuisance ARO pieces such as warcors or flashpulse remotes (or targets of oportunity that you can put at BS 0 due to range, Surprise, cover, and Camo mods). Because it is LT2 you can pop out, shoot, with one order, and recamo with your next. If there is no viable target then its LT orders can be spent on an NCO as they usually would.
Of course we are. Shame they're not going to be smart about it and do a Kamau Hacker and HMG blister. What with their dumbass decision to keep it and the various gubbins exclusive to "Beyond" boxes.
