So! Panoville, looks like army is updated, Just wanted to know what people think, Is this going to be salt or sun shine?
I'm finally getting the chance to play Infinity again this weekend, and there are TOO many fun options that I want to try out! I can't decide! I'm loving the new updates. There are some kinks that need to be worked out, but I know the staff at CB is working hard to fix them. Varuna looks amazing, and MO just got better.
I'm not used to the crazy mixed link shenanigans after playing loads of Vanilla PanO and NCA so I have no idea where to begin with them. What are some good general link templates or suggestions as to how to build solid ones in Varuna?
I like the update but i hoped that NCA would get an update too. No new Units needed but some Fireteam options and Bolt point fix would have been very nice... Maybe in the future.
Ho...lee...fuark. Looking over Varuna, it's amazing. First off, the mixed links I think are a bit of a trap because the Fusilier core is already so good, and mainly because it's so cheap. If you have 3 extra points lying around and a hacker to buff it, the Clipper might not be a bad replacement for the Missile Launcher. Once you start adding Orcs, it ceases to be cheap. After playing a ton of TAK with the Vet / Line Kazak mixed link, and coming to the conclusion that the Fireteam buff isn't worth the vulnerability for the Vet, I'm thinking Orcs will find themselves in a similar situation. Based on a lot of experience playing links like this, my intuition is to keep the core fireteam cheap. A Kamau HRL would be a pretty good substitute for the ML as it's justifiable for the mimetism and BS buff. Kamau are versatile like Bagh Mari but have several advantages. First off, only the Sniper has a visor, which is a big deal if you've ever had your ass handed to you by Nomad repeater nets and White Noise popping up everywhere you go. Second, they're faster (though less well-armored). I don't know that I'd want to run a core of these guys, but one here or there would be a useful addition to Fusiliers and they might Haris well for ITS. Zulu Cobras seem pretty legit. The Jammer profile is pretty pricey IMO, and the poor Forward Deployment level keeps it out of the midfield. The Killer Hacker is actually my favorite profile for them, since he's a marker state hacker that gives you access to all of the juicy Varuna remotes. Echo Bravos are really unique. Two profiles stand out - first of all, 25/.5 for a LRL and BSG is nuts. He's got all the tools he needs to kill the enemy up close and at range, with templates in both cases. Gross. The second is the Paramedic - usually taking an AD paramedic is something you do when you want to push buttons in ITS. This guy gives you a reason to take the profile even if button pushing is secondary, since his toolbox (Wild Parrot combined with AD) is great for dropping in behind a TAG and playing chicken. Helots are borderline insane. They are the perfect ARO piece - cheap (by virtue of neurocinetics and being irregular), extremely dangerous, and they can waste opponents' orders with decoy. Subgun/LRL puts you in +3 out to 24" for only 9 points and .5 SWC. 9...points. That's 1 point more than a flash pulse bot. The Shock Marksman Rifle profile is pretty legit too if you need to save on SWC. The new Orc profiles look OK. I'm not big on HI core links but in specific ITS missions that have Difficult Terrain zones on most of the board, they would be extremely useful. The 1 pt bump over regular Orcs is easily justifiable with Stealth alone. The Feuerbach gives your pain train a much needed ARO piece. New Squalo profiles look amazing. My one complaint about the Squalo in NCA was lack of a DTW. The Zapper is definitely worth 1 pt IMO. I'm definitely excited to take this sectorial for a spin. At a glance, the ARO potential is insane. You can field 3 SMR or LRL Helots, 2 Fugazi, and 2 TR bots for around 100 points and 2-2.5 SWC. That's going to be incredibly effective against any opponent who doesn't have smoke to cover their advance.
Considering the 300 pt MO box seems VERY tempting ATM...? Yeah, I'd say we can take a break from the salt mines for a short while.
Sun everywhere for me. I'm the kind of lab rat guy who likes testing stuff and possibilities. And CB just gave me a lot of toys to play with. I didn't had time to test the new Deva for NCA and just had three games with the new ASA and now there are too much things to be tested. If I could, I would devote all my current time at playing and testing all this stuff. I think everything is gonna be playable but with pros and cons and that's the good thing. A lot of us only see the Teuton in FT. I say he can but doesn't have to to shine in the battlefield. A lot of testing is coming for me.
Sun for Varuna, Sun for Aconte, and probably first time since N3 I have an idea for vanilla list that could entertain me as well...
I'm still thinking about it... Like... what color scheme would I even go for? That, and I'd like to see what the IA starter gets as well.
I have the MO 300 points box set and plan to paint them just like the way they look on the box, something to think about.
Well, Joan, F-K, Hospitaller and maybe Santiago will be the primary Lt. choices. I'd paint them as Hospitallers, with the exception of Magisters, as they primarily act with Teutons.
Honestly, now hear me out on this rather idiotic idea, but... I have the idea of trying to copy the Black Templars color scheme onto them.
You don't need to call it a Black Templar scheme. Before 1248 Hospitaller dress was black, with only their banners being red. You can always say that the Pope issued a new decree changing their colours again. I'm planning on reversing the studio theme, with black surcoat and red pauldron.
