If the Liu Xing had been bumped up, then yes I would have bought and run Liu Xing a few times, just to keep people on their toes. Maybe more if it was easy leaving 50-60pts on the sidelines.

Because as of the release of Red Veil, Tigers were supposed to be in IA. So you know what capabilities YJ already had in AD. CB could have made the Liu Xing bigger, badder Tigers, like how the Daofei is a bigger, badder Guilang. That's actually about what we were expecting the Liu Xing to be, a bigger badder Tiger.

Then perhaps CB shouldn't have put Invincible Army on the Tiger's dossier.

But vanilla YJ can support having both Guilang and Daofei, as well as both Ninjas and Hac Tao. No reason that the Liu Xing needed to be a sidegrade of Tigers.

Bostria decided to troll the forums instead of respond to the questions I'd asked.

I actually don't think yu Jing needed more 50+ point models. Were pretty saturated in that regard and mowang looks to be in that bracket and Shang ji look likely to be close.

So you might have wanted that. I think I'll be happy with the Liu xing fitting where it does.

Perhaps because there’s doubt as to whether any answer he might give would be accepted gracefully or gratefully, but rather set off another round of second guessing and salt? If you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t, might as well make the handbasket trip fun for yourself...

I feel like we’re chasing our own tails here. A lot of folks seem to be of the opinion that the Liu Xing could have been designed to not compete with tigers. It doesn’t even need to be a super 60 point tiger. Keep it at roughly the same durability, make it a worse shot and better at CC. Give it CQC load outs, shotgun, template, smg, da weapon, whatever. Give us a skill set and load out that encourages us to use explode instead of walking on a board edge. It’s that simple. Tigers and Stars can coexist and we all have reasons to buy both.

I get that what i’m saying is so much wasted breath because CB didn’t design it that way. We have the load out we’ve been shown, we need to make it work. CB thought this was the best course to take, so that’s what they implemented. But I don’t think it’s ridiculous for the community to be curious about why the decision was made and to ask. CB certainly isn’t under any obligation to share, but I, and I suspect others, would have much rather preferred a “sorry but we keep our design decisions private” to a sarcastic reply. I appreciate trolling and sarcasm probably more so than the next guy, and even I think Bostria’s response was a little tone deaf given the context of that particular thread. Humor has it’s place, teasing has its place, and I believe a company can have that kind of relationship with its customers, but it’s also important to decide on when it’s best to engage that way and when it’s not.

Which is a decision only CB can make. Obviously, based on his personality, the company's, and the reaction they believed each possible response would receive, they and he decided this was the best. Time will tell.

Agree with this completely. A high-end unsupported model like that would be very difficult to build for considering the high general cost of most of IA's options, especially one that cannot act as a Specialist, or take one with it via Fireteam. And, despite the complaints of many, I like the Liu Xing as it is. Checks a lot of boxes for missions, fun to actually use, feels coherent with the rest of the Sectorial, useful in Vanilla.

@ambisinister, couldn't agree more. Feels like half of the current YJ threads are complaints instead of working out how to deal with problems, and Bostria's post was not a very good way to deal with the negative portion of the discussion; for various reasons they are not in the mood for jokes and laughter right now. Koni's approach has been substantially more effective for calming people down, with occasional minor spoilers when speculation gets out of hand and the establishment of reasonable deadlines for releases. If only Bostria hadn't been on time to that video from the Warsaw tournament, we might have had a better answer for the Access Guide thread about the chance of another split!

I'm beginning to think IA might not be right for a lot of Yu Jing's players present on the forum, given several of the complaints are value judgements on particular loadouts and capabilities. Personally, it's looking like exactly what I wanted to play when I first investigated Infinity and chose Yu Jing.

Skorne continuously being trash is the reason I don't play Warmachine anymore, and I started in mk1. Complete dev apathy towards it was disheartening.

Yep, Skornergy elevated to science, and the infamous Molik Missile turned the tides of brisk Warmachine player's attitude against Skorne. They hit hard on the poor faction..

For me I quitted it due to people issues and my faction(Convergence) being neglected and having its concept stolen by new faction, Crucible or Crucifynoun whatever.

"Chasing one's tails". Dang thats a good word.

Terracotta Soldiers, Durable Numerous soldiers, aside from poison-throwing Kung Fu army.

Yeah, the high-tech brigade of Power Armor made me select YJ as my faction; I am waiting eagerly for IA. Really.

The annoying part is that in the same time period that Bostria communicated that Daofei would not be in IA he also communicated that Tigers would be in IA and WB, both.

@ObviousGray Convergence was released as a mini faction so it being sidelined or neglected was prophecised at release.
In the past couple of years they've addressed the issue of some of the main factions having lagged behind (coughscyrahcough) which was even more egregious.

I do not follow Warmachine enough to know which faction got that iron. I was going to compare Convergence to JSA or StarCo, but somehow I suspect the latter two will have even fewer releases given that Infinity sectorials resemble Warmahorde Theme Lists more than factions.

I fully agree with ambisinister and SpectralOwl. The level of complaining (without having the full picture) on this forum is just plain sad. Kindergarten level sad. I keep asking myself why do I even bother reading this stuff. I know it is a fultile atempt, but could You please just stop complaining for just 2-3 more days? When the IA list is out You`ll all have many years to bitch about it. And some grounds to do it, not just speculations and a fraction of the whole picture.
I also believe @Bostria made a very good and valuable contribution to this discussion. Much more valuable and interesting to read, than the 65+ pages of the "Post mortem" thread.

That's what you think. I personally am starting to think Bostria is just an irresponsable clowny manchild, to be honest.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, I suppose.

    My counter points:

    1. He's our irresponsible clowny man-child.

    2. Is this the same Bostria who is the brand ambassador for a company that makes war-dollies based around an anime-ish science fiction setting? Because Man-child is pretty much on-brand then. :)

So you think because you make gaming dolls you can behave in a irresponsible manner? Disney called, they really want you in their team.

Besides, I don't really see the relationship between playing with dolls/video games/reading comics/whatever and being a manchild.

    Counter - counterpoints:

He isn't. As good as the game is; the developers aren't your friends. This has been blatant since Uprising (yawn, yes I brought it up again) when the face of their marketing department has repeatedly showed complete apathy for the (completely valid) concerns of customers. I understand brand loyalty and feeling associated with a product, but there's a limit to what some people will put up with.

It's disingenuous to call them "war-dollies", and we all know that this clearly isn't a children's game. It's even more ridiculous to try and use that as an excuse to justify the (quite annoying at times) behaviour of the company face. It's like producing an awful movie and then when it's criticised saying "woah it's only a sci-fi movie, don't be such a man-child".

inb4 "just leave if you don't like it" - I own a bunch of models, I'm having my say on the official forums.

Also props to Koni for the timely community expectation management these last few days, I'm sure I'm not the only one who really appreciated it.

Sometimes there's a different, more disturbing force motivating certain sectors of the nerdosphere - witness the reactions to the all-female Ghostbusters, or the reaction to a more diverse cast for Star Wars...

I could buy one mini if the sculpt was good and different from Zhan Hu :) One HI AD would be enough though.
