Thank you. I really enjoy painting the girls, because I’ve been paining ugly blokes for so long. Actually I got the original kitsune the other day as I quite like her pose and hair (reminds me of an old 8-bit game that I can’t quite remember the name of). She’s on the assembly list up soon.
Agree that Yuriko somehow isn't that easy to paint. Painted mine a couple years ago and it also was my first try on faces. I wish I could forget it... =D But yours in the end looks seamlessly, like you had no problems at all. =) And I wonder why convert Kitsune, IMO it's still very cool sculpt, hope she's really close in your queue. ;)
As @archangeleong did the conversion of Saito, I think seeing up to date conversion of Kitsune would be interesting. Still I agree that there is nothing wrong (but scale) with that model. If I have to pick single miniature that lured me to infinity that would be her. Pity that CB nowadays lost the ability to make such nimble, naturally posed and dynamic miniatures.
DOMARU BUTAI with Chain Rifle Conversion It seems strange that there is not one model in the range that has this most iconic weapon in hand, especially when just about every Domaru has one in it's trooper profile. With this in mind I decided to make my own. Work in Progress pics It may be a long while before I get to paint this guy, as I have many other things in the queue at the moment. Just glad however that I managed to execute this idea I had in my head for a long while.
YOJIMBO Or Sanjuro, as he is want to call himself. This guy took ages to finish, but I’m mighty pleased with the result, especially after doing a lot of research on the bike colours.
@archangeleong Wow! Yojimbo is looking real good and that happy expression on his face. He must be enjoying himself.
Thanks Golem2God... He loves to scrap with kittens from time to time! Much appreciated Silagast, I looked at a lot of modern bikes to find a good paint scheme.
Very well done. I still have him in my pile of shame. Maybe you could darken the transition between the skin and the hair a little bit. It looks a little bit too clean. But that's only if I had to find something.
YOJIMBO and CRAZY KOALAS Yojimbo got his little buddies, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb They just want a hug :-) Tweedle Dee Spoiler: Pics Tweedle Dumb Spoiler: Pics Spoiler: Bye Bye!
@archangeleong Quite the family photo. How many more JSA units/models are left for you to paint &/or buy?
Still got shinobu, toketsu, and Musashi to do. Aragoto and oyoroi arrived in post the other day. So I’m gonna be busy for a while. After that I’m not sure if there is much left but wanna do as rest of model range I’m not fond of (ninjas, karakuri need updating badly and JSA needs its own rems rather than yujing hand me downs imho)
JSA could use some resculpts on their older models. Hope that you and other JSA players don't have to wait long for CB to announce & release them.
YOJIMBO DISMOUNTED Very happy with how this guy turned out. One of my faves in JSA project so far. Especially enjoyed researching Kurosawa and Mifune when coming up with paint scheme. Also rewatched Yojimbo and watched Sanjuro for first time. No wonder Kirosawa is considered a master of cinema. I highly recommend watching these films for JSA players to get inspired about their mini's! Thanks I'm gonna jump into the Mifune starred Samurai trilogy when I get around to painitng Mushashi. :-) Spoiler: More Shots Spoiler: Group Shots
I find the Kurosawa films move a little slow, but they are excellent stories. Quite telling that Kurosawa won a court case in the US in the 1960s over Magnificent Seven!
