Hey everyone. Been messing around with the idea of neutral/hostile wildlife in the game. Here is what I have so far, Premise: Large or small Wildlife that get set up on the board before deployment using scatter rulles from center of the board. Wildlife phase will happen at the beginning of each players turn. Only animal I have Come up with so far is a “NUETRAL” animal. So think some big Dino like herbivore. Neutral wildlife will do a random (scatter rule) full move in direction indicated on dice. If it hits board edge it stops. Second skill will be “graze” while Wildlife is not “spooked”. If a trooper activates in the ZOC of the animal the animal will make a WIP test as its ARO. If passed then nothing happens. If failed Animal becomes spooked. If weapons are fired in ZOC of animal the animal must pass a WIP -6 roll or become spooked. When spooked the animal, during wildlife phase will perform 1 of 2 attacks or actions indicated by evens or odds rolled on dice. First example for my Herbivore Beast would be: Charge!! : Make full move towards closest model. If Wildlife comes into base to base with a model the model must make a phys roll. If passed nothing happens, if failed, the model must make an armor roll against a damage 12 bash attack. If fails model suffers one wound and enters stun state. If no model is reached nothing happens animal just remains spooked. Second Example: Spine Blast : Wildlife remains stationary and balls up and ejects Quills at high velocity in all directions. All models in LOF within 12 inches must make an armor save against damage 13 applying all cover mods to armor. Spooked state applies for rest of game until Wildlife is slain. Models may ARO against wildlife and wildlife will ARO at random against activating trooper in LOF following the Even and Odds dice roll with the exception of “Charge” having to target the activating model. This is still a work in progress clearly and is no way ITS legal but thought I would make a fun new dynamic for some friendly play. I will continue to mess around and create some Statlines for models and even try to convert one. I plan on even making small carnivorous hunters that are always on the hunt and what not. Some neat possibilities here. Let me know what you think.
Before each player turn makes them seem pretty active. I'd think you'd want to do it just once per round, maybe between each players' turn. Don't forget Antipodes!
