I hail from Australia, and I'm finally going to make an appearance at the Australian "national" Satellite tourney, CanCon, for the first time in January. After playing CA-Avatar, JSA and OSS this year, I've decided to go back to my roots and repaint my Morat force that I stripped on a whim... They were my signature faction for the longest time - I played them in N2 and for most the start of N3 before I took a bit of a hiatus from the game. Coming back to them after not touching them for so long feels good - but I'm a bit out of touch with running them. So, I have about 3 and a half months to pull together 2 x 300pt lists to cater for the below mission selection; Supremacy Decapitation Frontline Supplies Firefight I don't expect to win the tourney, or sit anywhere near the top, but I'd be happy sitting mid-field and doing my Morats proud. I know we've also just hit a new season and everything is a bit up in the air - but hit me with some Red Monkey knowledge and opinions. In addition, thinking of tackling one of the dossier schemes shown a while back - open to thoughts on which to use.
Definitely the grey/ white scheme would love to see it at cancon (also going and will be my first time there) Am thinking vanilla CA for me and also struggling with list building. The missions are very specialist lite which is good for MAF take advantage of the new MI rules and/or drop troops imo. Also make sure you go through the new classifieds as there are some big changes there and some easy points to score that can make all the difference Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
I think for firefight, supremacy and frontline you can go full HAM with a Suryat core. I don't know how order intensive the Australian meta is, but these are missions that value some all out agression and violence, and MAF can really dish it out. Maybe something like this: Morat Aggression Force ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 2 KORNAK Lieutenant Mk12, Light Flamethrower / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 41) SURYAT HMG + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 45) SURYAT Heavy Rocket Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 39) SURYAT MULTI Rifle + Light Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 41) RAKTORAK Combi Rifle + Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 23) MORAT Hacker (EI Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 22) MED-TECH OBSIDON MEDCHANOID Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 23) SLAVE DRONE Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) SLAVE DRONE Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) Q-DRONE HMG / Electric Pulse. (1 | 26) KRAKOT RENEGADE 2 Submachine Guns, Chest Mine / Pistol, Shock CC Weapon. (0 | 17) KRAKOT RENEGADE 2 Submachine Guns, Chest Mine / Pistol, Shock CC Weapon. (0 | 17) 5.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army I know Classifieds are a thing, but Secure the HVT is also a thing and these guys are going to stomp up the table, making it possible to swap one of your classifieds for that if you feel confident enough. This list does have a slight problem if going second, but only slight, as the Q-drone and Krakots can slow down the enemy enough if they don't have something really tanky.
Well I'm planning on attending with my MAF! So will be good to see more monkey madness there :) I'm torn on list choice as well, so will be watching closely... With the ITS X buff to medium infantry it could be worthwhile running a core of Yaogat or Rodok?
Ace paint job there! Personally, I've never been in favour of 5-man Yoghurts, because they're too damn pricey for 1 wound models with no defence. Rodoks, one the other hand, I already felt were a serious contender - the MI buff is just icing. All said and done, though, I might return to my old playstyle for a few games and see how it pans out before I flex into other stuff - so Van/Anyat Core, possibly Kurgat Haris, Gaki and Oznat to run a Core in the second group if the opportunity presents, etc.
Sadly I can't take credit, they were painted by a studio in Adelaide years back. About to start on replicating the scheme myself, need to add Rodok and Suryat which have been released since this lot were done. I've always been a fan on the Van/Anyat Core, with a good bunch of specialists to push buttons. I'm thinking my killy list will fall back on the old Sogarat/Kornak Haris :)
100% rate Rodok core dude, an absolute midfield powerhouse of a squad. For your Vanguard/Anyat team, you'd probably wanna push for 15+ orders, whereas with the Rodoks maybe go LI with a Shotgun Raicho or Soggy backbone.
Rodok CORE is really nice, very strong presence, that extra 4" deployment in ITS10 helps a lot, allowing you to deploy them in a better position. Yaogats...I don't know, I have a bad history with them, being useless all of the time except like few cases. I really like LI style lists, but in our meta I'm sadly forced into playing 2 combat groups, as it's really difficult against opponents, and especially skilled ones, that run ~18 orders. As @DaRedOne already mentioned, easiest and most effective LI list is with Suryats. Also this one was fun to some degree, but keep in mind that people mostly run KHD in our meta Morat Aggression Force ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 KORNAK Lieutenant Mk12, Light Flamethrower / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 41) RAICHO MULTI HMG + Heavy Flamethrower / . (2 | 89) RAICHO PILOT 2 Heavy Pistols, D-Charges, Knife. () KURGAT (Operative Group) Boarding Shotgun, D-Charges, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 17) SLAVE DRONE Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) Q-DRONE HMG / Electric Pulse. (1 | 26) RODOK HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 27) RODOK Missile Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 28) RODOK Paramedic (MediKit) Boarding Shotgun, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 21) RODOK Paramedic (MediKit) Boarding Shotgun, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 21) RODOK Boarding Shotgun, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 19) R-DRONE Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army
I've managed to beat both Haqqislam 18 orders camo spam and Ariadna 18 orders caledonian spam in supplies and/or forstbyte, usually through judicious application of shock ammo and total disregard for scoring on the first turn. In missions where you don't score every turn, this is doable. If you think about it, a list with 10 models but 3 of them are suryats has 13 wounds. That's only 5 wounds less than an 18 orders list. 5 Wounds you can easily shave off with a few bursts of a BS16, Burst 5 HMG or a BS14 Shock ammo hmg. The only problem here is getting first turn so you can use all those 11 orders to the max.
Some season 10 things to remember: - Yaogats, Raktoraks, Rodoks, and Kornak all get Forward Deployment. So Kornak and a Raktorak can get a 4" head start over their Suryat link buddies. - EVO + Rasyats means an almost at will AD placement without the template. - Raktorak, Suryats, Anyat, and Kornak are Veteran Troops, Suryat, Yaogat, and Rasyat are Elite Troops.
How's the prep coming along @paraelix ? Personally, I'm a huge fan of the hungry link - I feel it's the single most compelling reason to run MAF. I've been experimenting a bit lately with a Suryat pain train + second group with a hungry link. I'll post it up later on (can't get access to Army at work, but weirdly can get on here).
¿This? Morat Aggression Force ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 KORNAK Lieutenant Mk12, Light Flamethrower / Pistol, DA CCW. I've run a list like the one you're describing - really liked it and would be interested in someone else's take on it. However you'll have a hard time convincing paraelix to take the hungry link. He and I have sparred over this before - he much prefers his morat list to be chiefly morats.
It's almost the same as @InMac list above except I have the the combi Raktorak, Vulkan Shotgun Suryat instead of the multirifle, no R drone B&K or Doc Worm, but adds vanguard hacker and yaogat spitfire. Start the Suryats in a Haris and hotswap the core link when the hungries break.
I like that. The version I ran had the luxury of not needing specialists for the event in question, so I was able to downgrade the multi Suryat to a combi, and have my other models in group one be two Daturazi and three Krakots for some egregious value trading. Also let me fit a fifth unlinked hungry which had some value. But, I think your version is better for general play where you can expect to need more than a token specialist presence.
I've had mixed success so far running things that will be largely unaffected by the coming changes. (I can't link an Army extract on my work PC, but looks like the following) Raicho Rodok Missile Rodok HMG Rodok Hacker Rodok Paramed Rodok Lt Dr Worm + 2 helpers Zerat FO Bit & Kiss The Raicho is super solid, but I've been consistently playing matched vs some of the strongest players in my Meta - so it gets dead a lot. I've had a few people forget that it has the Heavy Shotgun, and dropped suppression to make effective bs20 AROs against links with it's impact template. I'm torn on the Rodoks. With all the Shotguns and forward deployment, the Missile Launcher seems counter-intuitive, but is the best (only) means of taking a Missile in MAF for Anti-TAG/HI links. It is probably also down to my positioning with it. Zerat has been a star in a few games. Spec Firing grenades in the midfield has caught more than a few people off guard. Likewise, most models having access to Mines has been a thorn in the side for some opponents.
Im sure he meant suppression with the mhmg, then inside 8 rather aroing with the shotgun than with suppress
