Yes, those would be good. The only MSV currently in MO is Specialist Sergeants, Konstantinos, and the Black Friar. I don't think you'd see a lot of people taking an MSV2 Sepulchre in Vanilla when you can take an Aquila, especially since a MSV2 Spitfire Sepulchre would be 61 points and the Aquila HMG is 62!
I would love to see the KotHS with a specialist profile, a better LT option, or basically just bringing them up to the level of say, the Hsien in YJ. One of these guys showing up on the field should at least be the equivalent reaction to revealing a Swiss Guard.
Well, fluffwise, a Hsien showing up means that the Emperor Himself has some interest in what's going on. A Swiss Guard may represent that the Pope has some interest in what's going on, but it's not explicitly stated like it is with the Hsien. On-table, revealing a Swiss or Hac Tao is a much bigger 'oh, shit' moment than a KotHS coming out of Holo.
Aha i bet you were not expecting this santiago spitfire to actually be a Sepulcher spitfire. The entire game has changed now that he is a model with an identical statline for 12 more points
That's exaclty a problem of KotHS and his holo in MO. It's hardly impossible to actually make any meaningful "surprises". You can though check OSS and Lucien Sforza, he at least can make a nice option for Shukra/Asura/Posthumans (to hide MK 2). And he costs almost the half of KotHS while carrying more deadly weapon.
"Nothing to see here lads, just moving this Tech Bee way up the field into a position to rambo-flash pulse your entire back line".
I suppose that's my point. The Holy Sepulchre is supposed to be the Crème de la crème order, the tough one to get into, the Swiss Guard are supposed to be legendary for terms of the Pope himself being involved, but the HS order is a Big Deal politically since they're the elite among the MO. I mean, unless we're going full Attack On Titan Military Police and they're supposed to be paper tigers after all...
Hmm, strawman is full of straw. Maybe it would be better to disguise the KotHS as something more effective? Machinist, OS, Warcor, Trauma Doc, etc? Machinist or OS hacker would make a lot of sense moving down field, until it didn't.
You cannot as Warcor as lack of irregular order immiedtly breaks suprise. If someone is already playing OS Hacker then ... well he already decided to lower his expectations. Machinist and Trauma Doc without helpers are rare sight in MO .... An only "good" option I would think of is OS HRL (obviously worse one, without Auxbot) or Konstantionos: but even then you have to avoid repeaters AND you forfeit your surprise attack.
With the Fusilier Lt gone, I'd be game for a dirt cheap Holo1, SMG Knight with Frenzy to make sure my game isn't ruined by LoL (I'm kidding, I'm kidding...). The current Sepulchure now is the safest Lt we have with "take 3 of X and keep em guessing" out of the picture... but he is just so friggin expensive, so I'd rather risk having obvious Joan sitting on a roof and hope no one wants to put in the effort to go and get her with a HI Link in their face. Gotta admit, the anti synergy of enforcing a Knight Lt, who then most likely would want to join a Link, thus can't use the Order, is fairly obvious and struggles staying safe, is not what I'd call good design.
it's not a strawman, it was a joke. But if your opponent is falling for you walking a machinist down the field unassisted and he has no palbot attached, then you didnt need the sepulcher to beat him to begin with. As pointed out before the sepulcher cant disguise itself as irregular troopers as his status and lack of irregular order would immediately give him away. So would the fact he has stealth the moment you walked near a repeater disguised as an OS hacker. He is supremely expensive for the trick to really work. Hell for his cost his best disguise is three magisters, because he costs almost as much. Even then he'd end up serving more as area denial, because nobody wants to chance the panzerfaust aros.
Not if you're fielding Joan. Not sure I follow. Right now there are two sources of a HD, Fusiliers (rumored to be removed) and OS. A HD provides Fairy Dust which is very useful in a faction full of HI. Further that's not available on the AHD, and the EVO hacker clearly cannot be mimiced. So there's very good reason to bring at least one OS Hacker, maybe two. Hack Transport Aircraft, Controlled Jump, Lockpicker can also be very useful depending on circumstances. Finally the OS Hacker would explain why the model was hackable..... Perhaps. Seems like this depends on army composition. I wouldn't think about it too much, I doubt my opponent would either. Combi OS is going to become much more common if Fusies get pulled from the Sectorial. Why would you want to forfeit your surprise attack? You can shift to Holo 2 during the turn, assuming that being a BS14 HI armed with a Spitfire isn't enough of an advantage.
So Joan is only useful in the context of this trick, and isn't commonly fielded for a lot of other reasons? Particularly since it's rumored that there will be no cheap Fusie LT option? I get it you think the KotHS sucks, but let's keep the arguments somewhat reasonable. Or... the machinist could be attempting to push whatever buttons are necessary for the mission. Palbots are nice, but they're not an auto-include for a number of reasons, including their inability to push buttons, or having the points work out. Having the points work well is particularly a problem with a list with lots of expensive models like MO. Then there's the eternal question Warcor, or Palbot? I usually go Warcor, but YMMV. The machinist is also not a dreadful attack piece on his own. It's true he's not amazing, but a BS12 LI isn't a joke either. After the 2nd or 3rd turn having a Machinist make a run at pushing buttons or killing things isn't unreasonable.
